FAQs about hotels in Mexico City

Aztec Capital and Vibrant Metropolis

As one of the biggest cities in the world, Mexico City could be better described as an experience than a city. Founded in 1325 by the Aztecs as Tenochtitlan, it was both destroyed and rebuilt by the Spanish in the 16th century. Nowadays, it is the capital of the United Mexican States and its most important economic and cultural center.

The city center’s cornerstone is the famous Plaza de la Constitución, commonly called Zócalo. It's surrounded by the presidential Palacio Nacional and the Mexico City Metropolitan Cathedral.

The Avenida de la Reforma was built under the brief rule of Archduke Ferdinand Maximilian of Austria, while the deposed president Porfirio Díaz left a characteristic fusion of French-Mexican architecture. The 1960s saw a demographic explosion that only now is starting to be completely absorbed.

From the Chapultepec Parks and the chic Polanco, to the gay area of Zona Rosa and the Bohemian and intellectual Coyoacán: let Mexico City tell you its thousand secrets and stories.

Most of the hotels are located around the Reforma area, the Insurgentes Avenue and the Zócalo. If you’re looking for 5-star hotels in Mexico City, the modern Santa Fe area has a recently redeveloped business sector.

I've been to CDMX many times and stayed in different areas.

I've been to CDMX many times and stayed in different areas. I stayed in Reforma because the Mexican Senior Living Summit was held at a large hotel on the Reforma. I liked that I could easily walk to Roma Norte and Condessa where I enjoyed discovering cafes and restaurants. I revisited the museum at Chapultapec which I recommend if you are interested in the history of Mexico. It's also quite pleasant to walk in parts of Chapultapec park, it's huge!!

So much to do in Mexico City and the best food in Mexico. It flooded while we were there, but you Mother Nature does what she does. Traffic sucks, but that is true in every big city. Try not to be moving around during commute time. Uber is great here.

LOTS TO SEE !! Mexico City has amazing sights for tourists to see. Fantastic culture & history. The Anthropology Museum was FANTASTIC ! Our tour of the pyramids was very educative and mind bogling. The historic area with the palace and the incredible monuments around it including the old postal office etc were wonderful to see. Definitely would recommend Mexico City to my friends & family.

This is a world class city with everything a visitor could want and more -- architecture, museums, parks, food, entertainment. It is easy to get around CDMX but you have to do a bit of research on how the transit works. I found it a very walkable place, with parks, fountains and statues everywhere. I also found it much much much safer than other big cities such as Toronto or New York.

    Plan ahead.

Plan ahead. Find what you like, what you want to see and visit. Make a list, use AI to prepare it for you. Public transportation is cheap, one metro/bus ticket costs around $0.40 and you can switch inside metro without paying additional fare. There are modern architectural marvels in the Mexico city, like the Vasconcelos library worth visiting or Museo Anahuacalli. Also, Avenida Amsterdam in La Condesa neighbourhood. In the city center - Postal building is interesting, but Mexico city bank building next to it only if you are interested in the Mexican money - otherwise, don't go, you'll loose nearly 2 hours. Both buildings are next to Palacio de Bellas Artes. La Merced market near Zocalo (Plaza de la Constitution) is huge, and go only if you haven't been to other mexican markets or if you wish to eat at one of the many, many stalls there (I recommend TACOS MC TEO stall) Be aware there are rules to deal with car polution, and if you are coming with your car (or rental car) you have to apply online for a tourist pass, because whole Mexico city is unde Hoy no circulation zone rules.

Excellent location in Reforma, Mexico City. We stayed 4 night in a junior suite on the 2nd floor is quite quiet (except for the door banging sound from people closing the ice box door. Hotel serves average breakfast but it very generous as they let guest pack food away by providing boxes and bags for take away. The area is very safe to walk about even at night and is next to a shopping mall with plenty of ATMs, eating and shopping choices. It is also not far from Zocalo by car. Housekeeping is very good.

Amazing perfect small boutique hotel in the centre of Mexico City! Few steps from the main shopping area. Amazing value for money.
