FAQs about hotels in Pisa

Look Beyond the Leaning Tower

If you are in Pisa then the first stop is probably to snap a memorable picture of the famous Leaning Tower. Arrive early and you just might get a chance for a solo shoot! Go beyond this legendary experience and discover a maze of ancient cathedrals, buildings and squares in this historic town.

From the Pisa Centrale Train Station, the 30-minute walk to the Campo dei Miracoli is along a pedestrianised street packed with shops and restaurants. If you head outside the touristy area you will start to uncover the atmosphere created from the some 60,000 students who study here.

Appreciate masterful art at Museo di San Matteo and Romanesque architecture at the San Paolo a Ripa d'Arno, San Michele in Borgo and San Paolo Churches. If your feet tire then hop on and off one of the site-seeing buses to get a different look at Piazza dei Miracoli or the dome at the Cathedral of San Ranieri.

Pisa Galileo Galilei Airport is the gate to Tuscany and from here Florence and Siena are easily accessed by train while San Gimignano is accessible by bus. No matter whether Pisa is the final destination or you’re just passing through, Booking.com can offer you over 90 hotels, B&Bs and guest houses in this Italian city.

What Guests Said About Pisa:

    It was fantastic.

It was fantastic. Other tourists were respectful which were encouraging. The restaurants and cafes are too close to the crowd place itself though. Crowd control might make it a better experience but overall it was pleasant. It is easy to get around and I used both google map and applemap but the locals are very helpful too. I ate at a nearby place but it’s cheaper elsewhere. I’d avoid peak time and would visit early morning like 8 or 9 am. Still, Highly recommended!

Good starting point if you plan to visit also other places...

Good starting point if you plan to visit also other places like Florence or Lucca as it is cheaper to stay and eat to Florence and the trains worked perfectly, on time and reasonable prices. I used it to get to Florence, you can get open tickets for the day for the same price as if you select certain time and there are several connections in an hour, each took different stops and times. I visited all the sites of Piazza Miracoli in Pisa included in 27 EUR ticket reserved the whole day for it but in fact one afternoon was ok. It is 20 minute fast walk from train station. But if you are not in the hurry it is a nice walk along shops and bistros. To enter the leaning tower really follow the instruction that are clearly stated on the official website before you buy the ticket. The steps are slipper even when no rain! Wide selection of restaurants was around the Piazza Miracoli on the other side of the river. Carefour Express and Pam supermarkets have bar space to charge your phone, you can buy a snack there and heat it up in the bar corner. There was even Nespresso capsule self service machine for only 0,70 EUR. Florence was packed with tourists but I expected it, no surprise there. I ate at the historical market in Florence; the ground floor is cheaper that the upper floor to eat though! You get market stalls but food is served and you can sit down and soak the atmosphere. Cheaper than to sit down outside in restaurants. Toilette is for free here but be prepared for a queue.

You really have nothing more to see along the leaning tower...

You really have nothing more to see along the leaning tower of Pisa and the cathedral in the centre. But in the morning there are stands with stuff to buy around the river and be sure to visit a store called Citees. It has the coolest t-shirts for a really cheap price, around 12-15 euros.

Great city for a short stay. The leaning tower is a must see, and we also enjoyed visiting the Botanical Gardens which was excellent value. The variety of quality restaurants and coffee shops was excellent, together with a great selection of retail shops.

Think everyone has to go here at least once in their life. We were there for 2 days which was a perfect amount of time to see the sights and taste the local food. Spent a day in Florence as well which was about an hour on the train from Pisa which trains running back and forward frequently. Would recommend that as well. Easy to get around the city by walking as everything is located centrally. Plenty of choice to eat and drink.

We spent 1 1/2 days in Pisa and felt that was about enough to see everything. Took a lovely horse and carriage ride, saw the leaning tower of Pisa and ate dinner in a 100% gluten free restaurant which was amazing. Grano Libero homemade ravioli and lasagna. The Grand Duomo Hotel has an amazing view of the tower at night and is a great place to get a drink and unwind I just wish they open before 7:00. The hotel was nice but very old fashioned. First time I’ve been handed a key to a room in forever but just steps away from the tower.

Excellent location- walking distance from the train station. Pisa is a walkable city so it was convenient for all the attractions. The room was very big, comfortable and super clean. Very quiet, not like other hotels where I have been in Italy where you can hear what happens in other rooms. The breakfast was complete, both with sweat and salty options. The B&B is basically a converted flat in a suburb of Pisa but with easy bus access to the station and centre. Breakfast is provided, though it isn't a big deal in Italy. It is clean and tidy, room is OK and generally good value for money compared to town centre hotels. The proprietor, Giusy (female), is helpful and the offer of a ten euro collection form the airport is worth considering - getting there by the connecting train and bus would be 6.30

The location is perfect. It was within a short walk to the Tower of Pisa and many restaurants. The private parking lot was secure and safe and only accessible by guests. The family room was more than large enough for four people and the beds were probably the most comfortable beds I have slept on in any hotel that I can remember. The staff was extremely friendly and assisted us with all of our needs. The staff also spoke perfect English.

The room was spacious and had everything I needed. Clean. The guy at the reception (owner?) is friendly and helpful. There’s supermarket (PAM) nearby (2 min walk). It’s probably 5-7 min walk to the main attractions (main square with Pisa tower, etc.). It’s worth the money paid. I would book this hotel again whenever I am in Pisa. The furniture is old but it is all operational and is authentic.
