The location is right in front of the Circo Massimo. What a wonderful experience to wake up ten steps away from such a fantastic view! When you go to Rome, your go-to place to stay is The Hotel Valeri. Very clean and beautiful place, run by a top staff. Ruis welcomed us with open arms and treated us like family. He took excellent care of us. Tomasso was there for us and also saw to anything we needed. Fernando gave us a great map with all the places highlighted that we should see, with transportation and restaurant tips, Roberto, the owner, gave us great tips about how to get city bus tickets, the bus stop is literally right around the corner from the hotel. The centrall location was very convenient, and the beds were very comfortable, like a cloud. Breakfast was excellent. Definitely will stay here again for our next visit to Rome. All the staff get an A+ in my book. A wonderful home away from home. 😊

The Colosseum

The fights! The glory! This iconic arena specialized in gory ends. Built in the 1st century, it held up to 80,000 spectators who came to witness gladiatorial combat and bloody reenactments of naval battles. When you look up at the stands, it doesn’t take much imagination to hear the deafening roar of the crowds or to picture the fierceness on display.

Get there early and there will be less crowds. Bring your passport as they did ask for it. (I think you could have gotten in with just a picture ID, but same yourself the time. There is an elevator they can be used.

In my opinion it is highly overrated.

In my opinion it is highly overrated. On the outside it looks impressive, but once you're in - it's just a ruin. There are other Roman arenas that still function - operas, theatre, concert halls (like Verona or Pula) - this one is just a walkthrough. Sad, really.

It's a beautiful place and if you have access to multiple places, I would recommend booking at least half a day, because it's not exactly small. If you only have access to the arena, then 30 minutes is enough. Entry is at a specific time (there's no point in getting there earlier) - they really strictly let you in at a specific time. Toilets are available inside (unless you have bought a ticket for just the arena).

This was a bit of a disappointment.

This was a bit of a disappointment. We bought a guided tour but it was so crowded that we had to wait in line for a long time before even entering the site. And when we got in, there were so many people it was tough to hear our guide. Still, if we didn't have a guide, I'm sure it would have been much worse.

The Coliseum was fascinating, but when you leave, watch out for pickpockets and thieves. They operate extensively in this area. We saw two couples who were victims of unsuccessful attacks of these persons. There is no policing around this area, which makes you wonder why, as it is well known for its pick pockets and opportunistic theives.

A very convenient location, a few streets away from the Colosseum, Palatine Hill, Roman Forum, restaurants, Metro and even grocery store. Most tourist attraction are near it walkable like at least 30 mins. The location was the best part. AC is a good addition ,it was hot when we had our vacation. And it met our expectations for what we mostly needed in the apartment during our stay.

Wonderful, spacious, well appointed apartment steps away from the Colosseum. The host, Luigi, was responsive and accommodating, met me at the apartment and got me situated. Beyond the normal coffee and water, I found eggs, milk, and other snacks. Bathroom was modern and clean. Bed was super comfortable. A nice private outdoor patio.

The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. The location is absolutely perfect – the Colosseum and many other landmarks are just across the street and within walking distance. Bus stops, a metro station, and a supermarket are also nearby, which is very convenient. There are plenty of great restaurants in the area – you'll always have options. A special mention to the staff – they were very polite and friendly, always ready to help. Overall, the hotel left a very good impression.

Location was excellent. A few minutes from the Colosseum and 10 min or so from the Trevi Fountain. Shops and little cafes within a min or less. Close to everything. Breakfast was so nice. We were treated so well by all the employees. So very helpful and courteous. I would definitely stay there again. I was w my 25 yr old daughter and we both felt extremely safe at the hotel and the whole area. Loved it.

Great location, exactly in front of the entrance there is a bus/tram stop. On the corner in like 30meters distance is Carrefour supermarket. You can see the Colosseum from your window😊 The apartment was very cozy, clean and had everything needed for comfortable stay. Bed and pillows were so comfortable, I slept so well despite the noise from the street( I cannot lie it is noisy..). Hosts were very friendly and helpful.

The Host is supper friendly and speaks well many different languages, which in Italy it is not easy to find such persons. I loved the possibility of choosing the breakfast in advance and receiving it early hour in the room. The location it is surely one of the best in Rome, literally few minutes' walk to the Colosseum and Santa Maria Maggiore.

I had a wonderful stay at the Royal House Hotel in Rome. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even more enjoyable. My room was very clean and comfortable, and the highlight was the stunning view of the Colosseum right outside my window—it doesn’t get more Roman than that! The location is perfect for exploring the city, and I truly couldn’t have asked for a better experience. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Rome, and I would definitely stay here again.

The place had everything that we needed. It was comfortable and spacious for a family of four, including 2 giant teenage boys :)! The location is unbeatable, with the Colosseum just at the end of the street (you can see it from the door to the building) and the metro stop very close as well. Despite the proximity to the Colosseum, the apartment was very quiet. Perfect place to enjoy everything Rome has to offer! We would stay there again!
