This hotel is a jewel in the middle of busy Florence… over the years I’ve seen this family owned hotel become better and better! It’s right next to Ponte Vecchio the rooms are soundproofed and it was cozy and warm when the weather was chilly out there, yet it had air conditioning a rare thing in Florence!!! In addition drinking an Aperol Spritz on the terrace was a nice way to end our days after our tiring walks… just loved it… but it was their staff and their willingness to help what really caught me!!! Keep up the good work!

Uffizi Gallery

What makes Florence the epicentre of art? All of it; but specifically the Uffizi Gallery. Its collections cover the ages, but its darlings will always be Renaissance born. You won’t find a better Art History 101 refresher. Hours wilt away inside this U-shaped mansion. The Birth of Venus tops many a best-of list. Better book tickets in advance – the masterworks cause quite a queue.

My favorite spot in the entire world. Buy the tickets sooner and prepare to spend at least half of your day inside. If you cannot afford a guided tour, they have an app with a few works contextualized.

It is complicated to buy the tickets ahead of time, to get in the right line, and to get the audio to work. After you get in the art highlights are way too crowded. Wonder art made unattractive by poor organization.

Get tickets for 8:15 AM, go with nothing but your camera and don't check your coat. Head directly to the Botticellis, and then to the Da Vinci's, Raphaels and the Michelangelo to enjoy them without the crowd, and then double back for the Gothic paintings. Do NOT make the mistake of pausing to view sculptures on the entrance level. Do NOT get distracted by the Gothic masters. Speed walk to the Botticellis and then the Ninja Turtles or you'll be viewing them across crowds jostling for selfies.

Packed with stunning art work including “Spring” and “The birth of Venus” by Botticelli. We looked at most of the works and spent 3 1/2 hours there. The queues were long, I’d advise prebooking your tickets.

    1. DEFINITELY get "skip the line" tickets. 2. Don't forget that you still have to wait in line to exchange the "skip the line" tickets for the admission tickets. 3. Don't forget you then have to wait in line with all the other "skip the line" ticket holders to actually get in. Plan accordingly and enjoy the FABULOUS art!

My second time going: make the reservation, folks!! You want to get in early and take your time. I wish I knew more about the ceilings and walls of the actual building. I must, must, must see for anyone slightly interested in art. I can't wait to return again!

I would absolutely stay at this hotel again. The location is perfect for walking downtown Florence, it's right next to the ponte vecchio bridge, the Uffizi gallery and is about a ten minute walk to the duomo and shopping. The breakfast was excellent and the reason I will come back. As someone with gluten and pork allergies, the breakfast options were lovely with smoked salmon, fresh fruit and fresh local cheeses. The staff was very friendly and helpful too!

Very Good - What previous guests thought, 233 reviews
Fantastic location, spacious property. Reasonably clean. Good air conditioning, when the system was working. Host/owner very responsive to issues. Less than 5 minutes walk to Duomo and Uffizi gallery, 10 minutes to Ponte Vecchio, 15-20 minutes from train station. Plenty of cafes/restaurants/shops nearby.

What Guests Said About Uffizi Gallery:

  • Spectacular. The David!

Spectacular. The David! One cannot compare the Medieval and Renaissance Art to text books and Art books. It is beyond explanation. The Uffizi housed so many pieces that our 4 hours probably did not do it justice. The Accademia where The David lives is a must. Wish we would have seen the palace and much more. If you want leather it is in Florence in the shops and the outdoor market.
