Me and my partner stayed here for 2 nights as we were going to an event nearby. On the day we were coming I phoned when we were an hour away to ask if we could check in early which they said was no problem. Arrived at half 11 and a nice friendly guy came out to meet us and checked us into our room. The room had everything you needed. The bed was comfy, the shower was great, perfect temperature. They do meals there but I never got round to trying as I wasn’t there long enough but it smelled lovely and there was lots of people there for meals so it must be good. It was a great location, easy to find and you can sit right by the river too, perfect.

I liked the location of the property and the surroundings. The restaurant and bar area was nice. The staff at the reception area was awesome and very helpful. We had an issue with the booking of the room for my friend's family (for a family of 3 they were allotted a double bed room only due to the miscommunication from Booking.com) , but Shane and Ana at the reception were extremely helpful and they managed to provide room with sofa-bed for the 2nd day. Due to long week-end the hotel was full.

The bathroom definitely needs an upgrade. The wash basin, the tub , the commode and all bathroom fittings are very very old styled and surely warrants a change. The lighting in the room also needs improvement. The carpets in the rooms as well as in the corridor need to be a little brighter and new.

Third floor....2 dirty mugs left in kitchen sink with lipstick stain ....fridge had old milk stains....bath plug chain snapped and was left on side of bath.....alarm going off in reception when we arrived no reassurance from the 3 staff members looking at panel whilst 3 people were in a queue at check in desk...we have stayed 3 times before a different room each time....whilst we appreciate it is going through renovation there are cracks in walls etc the staff are generally friendly and helpful...no food served after 6pm on Sunday....no nuts available in bar area....no real designated smoking area..

The catering was a Stonehouse carvery who provided breakfast which was poor. The cooked breakfast was overcooked … hard bacon etc. continental had to be ordered. No yogurt or fruit limited cereal and no croissants on the first morning. The waitress managed to find one orange in the kitchen. The building is in need of renovation.

The room was sooo tiny that you had to reverse into the bathroom - wouldn’t suit a larger person. The breakfast was a nightmare. There was no mention in the pre booking details that if you didn’t order breakfast in advance it was extra, it was cold and there wasn’t enough cooked and had to wait ages for it to come out.
