Stayed for a night before a flight from Stansted the following day and was very impressed with the hotel. The room was large, spacious and very comfortable with all the facilities I needed: eg. kettle, TV, fan for cooling the room, seating etc. The bathroom was also sizeable and clean with a good shower and soap/ shower gel provided for the stay. Only dealt with one staff member when I checked in, she was friendly and very informative and helpful. Location wise it was perfect for the airport, it was a short walk from the hotel to the train station (and from there a short ride to the airport). Also the location was convenient for the town centre in Bishop Stortford, with plenty of bars, restaurants and shops within easy reach. (The hotel had an Italian restaurant on site also which looked good but I didn't need to use it on this visit)

The reception staff Lauren and Christina, were so very helpful with my booking ( there were 9 of us in total). As a disabled person I wanted to make sure everything was in place before our arrival and Lauren was so helpful and reassuring. Christina was also very kind and helpful, two brilliant ambassadors for the hotel, The hotel has been updated since my last visit, which I can understand, but the beautiful wooden balustrade has been painted! The hotel is beautiful and set in lovely grounds. Accessibility is good for disabled guests and my grandchildren loved the menu, in fact we all felt the food was good value for money and good quality. The parking fees are really good, I would highly recommend this hotel.

Nothing, just one small grip, as it was a quite night the barman decided to deep clean the coffee machine, so we couldn't have a coffee, but he's lovely attitude made up for this.

It's in a good location for bus stops and train station. Local shops and cafe nearby. I would choose these options for breakfast rather than pay extra for what the hotel offers.

Requested a double room and received direct confirmation of this in an email from Innkeeper's Collection. On arrival we were checked into a twin room. Showed email to staff & they stated booking.com were at fault and they couldn't rectify it. Lack of available staff was the reason given for us not to be given another room or for someone to rearrange the two single beds and make it the extra large double we were promised by relocating the bedside tables. As they were bar and restaurant staff they absolved themselves of any responsibility for issues with hotel rooms and bookings which shouldn't be the case. We were offered a free breakfast the next morning as compensation but considering I had just received news of a family bereavement I didn't need this added stress and disregard for our pre-booked requirements at check-in.

Very good location for exploring Chester and going to the races. Staff were excellent and very helpful. Room was clean and comfortable.

The shower facilities in the room were very poor. Not what I would expect at the price charged. Breakfast was very good but some more fruit and perhaps Greek yoghurt on offer would improve it even more.

Stunning modern renovation of traditional farmhouse. Lots of space inside and out for group of up to 10.

Lovely location , hotel and grounds. Lovely decor and friendly staff

No dogs aloud in the lounge area which was disappointing. The pool area could do with a bit of an upgrade, and more loungers inside. The hot tub was not hot enough and children were in it which reduced the relaxing benefits of booking the spa.

We encountered numerous stray hairs in our bed and bathroom, which were definitely not ours and quite frankly, repulsive. It was evident that the room hadn't been properly cleaned. Despite bringing this to the attention of the staff, the replacement sheets they provided still had hairs on them. I even plucked a hair from the sheet right in front of them to illustrate the issue, but they insisted the sheets were clean as they had just been laundered. Clean sheets should not be adorned with other people's hair. Overall, the cleanliness of the room was severely lacking, and I was deeply disappointed that we weren't provided with another set of properly cleaned sheets. Furthermore, when we requested some form of compensation for the unacceptable state of the room, all we received was a contact card and nothing more. This level of customer service is simply unacceptable. I was thoroughly disappointed and honestly quite surprised to find such subpar conditions in what was supposed to be a four-star hotel. Not only was the customer service severely lacking, but the room itself was disgustingly dirty, and to top it off, the bed was uncomfortably small. I'm of average height, yet I found myself too tall for the bed, which was rather unexpected and added to the overall dissatisfaction with the experience.
