      The room was large, well furnished and comfortable. Dinner menu provided a good choice, with each course very well presented and the food was delicious. Breakfast provided a wide choice of cold and hot food which was very tasty and well presented. The staff taking orders for breakfast and dinner were very friendly and attentive. Jill, on Reception at our arrival, who also served us coffee in the afternoon and then Pre-Dinner drinks and then supervised and was hands on during Dinner, was superb. She is a first class employee and ambassador of the hotel and we hope the Macdonald Management recognises the value she brings.

      The stairs from the ground to first floor have very short treads due to the curved layout of the staircase. This makes it necessary to take extra care when using.

      Located in a quiet residential area just off the Downs. Plenty of parking but also near to regular public transport. The room was exceptionally clean and freshly furnished. The bed and pillows wherever comfortable. Good coffee making machine.

      Breakfast was plentiful with very good choice. Self service kitchen and its goodies was a lovely surprise so therefore reflected cost of stay. Accommodation was spotless and very comfortable. Lovely entrance hall with a welcoming warmth.

      Parking limitations which meant one person waited with bags whilst partner retrieved the car. I panicked when owner sent me a link to enter property BUT she very kindly solved my concern without having to use an App!

      The staff were all so kind and welcoming apart from the Chef.

      The chef did not appear happy to be serving up our roast dinner on Sunday at 3pm. In fact, if it were not for the welcoming from other staff, my husband and I felt uncomfortable .

      Food options were very limited and not very palatable. The rooms were ok but tired and very poor quality with terrible pillows they were flat and not fit for purpose! Hotel staff were limited and not particularly friendly,happy or helpful.The hotel was not value for money as it’s very old and tired . I think you need more than fresh paint to update this hotel and some staff that actually seem like they like people and want to help them to enjoy of their stay! This hotel is very overpriced.

      Right when I got there, it was obvious this hotel was nothing like the nice place it looked like online. The room was a mess with ripped wallpaper and it smelled musty and moldy. The carpet was stained and stinky, and the walls were dirty too. The bathroom was just as bad, with a broken toilet seat and a dirty shower that barely worked. The worst part was the awful smell coming from the toilet, like sewage, which made it hard to even think about taking more than one shower. Sleeping was impossible; the bed was dirty and so uncomfortable that I couldn't sleep at all. I asked to change the room several times, but the hotel staff did nothing about it. The few things in the room were in terrible shape too. The WiFi didn't work well either, which was just another frustration. Leaving the hotel felt like escaping a nightmare, especially walking through a yard that smelled like urine. It's shocking this place charges so much when it's in such bad shape and the service is awful. I'd tell everyone to stay away from this hotel. It really needs to be fixed up and the staff needs better training. I'll never go back and I think it should be taken off all booking sites. This hotel is a dump.
