It is a nice place and the food is good. Lovely cider. The rooms, which are purpose-built and outside of the main building, each with private access and parking close by, are excellent. The owner is a very nice helpful man. One can walk up a short lane and hill behind the pub to see castle remains, fantastic views and access to the adjacent country park on the Downs.

For some reason, people with dogs are expected to eat in a different room, which was odd for a pub. I was allowed to eat in the bar, but this was not advised first. Also unable to take my dog to the breakfast buffet which was irritating.

We were upgraded to larger bedroom which was lovely. Def good value for money. Staff were very friendly & welcoming. Restaurant staff were very helpful in locating us somewhere suitable for your dog. Food was delicious (both dinner & breakfast). Lovely grounds for a stroll.

Nothing that we didn't like.

The location of the hotel was great. Lovely gesture that I was upgraded. Tea and coffee making facilities in the room would be good. More healthy choices for cereal and fruit would be good at breakfast time.

Low seating for eating my evening meal. Music a little too loud whilst eating dinner. More choice on the dinner menu would have be nice. Vegetables were lovely and tasty but in batter each night.

It’s handy for us visiting our son & his family who live in Townhill

We’ve stayed several times before but this time had to queue at a busy bar just to check in which isn’t a good idea. We stayed in room 108 which was a lovely room and Saturday night was nice and quiet but the Sunday night was awful room 109 kept us awake until at least 3am banging doors shouting at each other it was terrible and we had a 4 hour drive home on the Monday it was horrendous we are pensioners and will definitely think twice about staying again when we visit in the summer.
