Bit disappointed with our view from the room, just a roof really. Reception staff were very helpful and found us another room which had a better view of the river and outdoor sitting area. Made use of the pool, which was nice. Lovely breakfast, very relaxing atmosphere.

The staff were exceptional from the greeting on arrival, the bar staff and the restaurant staff. The atmosphere in the property was very welcoming.

The room unfortunately was not great. It was up 5 flights of stairs with no lift. Next to impossible to get hot water. Mentioned that a light bulb was out and it was not replaced in the 3 days I was there. Really noisy floorboards so felt really sorry for anyone below me. Also I guess the bins were bind the room due to the horrendous noise of bottles being thrown in the bin.

Loved the big room (room 3) and the bed. Great location for town walks Loved the breakfast even if it was delivered to the room.

No staff present even if it is named the Lyme 1 Hotel.

I paid around £45 for a nights stay. The room was clean and quite spacious. The staff were friendly enough.

The bed was rather uncomfortable, however if you pay less than £50 what do you expect?

The bed was the most uncomfortable bed I have ever slept in, I could feel springs poking me through mattress. Pillow was seriously hard. Curtains at the bottom hung away from letting lots of light in from the road, noise levels from the road was very loud but I know that’s not hotels fault. I have stayed in many hotels before, but non have been as bad as this one, my wife only slept for 1 hour due to bad bed. Was it value for money no not at all, room being priced at £165 was outrageous, even at £90 per night would be bad. But £165 and not including breakfast is like daylight robbery, the room was super clean though and that’s the only positive thing I can say. Bathroom shower was a joke too, shower head was like a dribble I had to fiddle for ages to get it to work properly. The toilet was a joke too, had to flush the toilet about 6 times to get it clean twice if it was just paper. I would never recommend anybody to stay here because it was simply appalling and a total money rip off. I told the staff about my issues upon departure of the hotel but they didn’t care one bit. We would have been better paying less money and staying in a hostel, than staying at the Britannia hotel in Edinburgh. Tell everybody to stay away from there and do not book it because it’s truly awful.
