Perfect decor, sizes of rooms with perfect facilities for what we required. A very clean, smart, comfortable, modern renovated house but the traditional features fully maintained in a lovely, quiet, beautiful spot. The log burner was very appreciated and even better that it was all set to go on arrival. The whole property and huge parking area is great and we feel very reasonably priced. Great access to the rear of the Nevis range.

My only slight issue was myself and my partner are used to being remote and used to country lanes (only 1.5 miles to nearest village with shops and restaurants) but my mum, brother and his wife who also stayed with us felt the lane to reach the property needed some extra attention in a few places. Not expecting perfect tarmac but there’s a few large tree route ridges across the width of the road which have caused fissures (Our only issue!)

Beautifully clean and tidy, really comfortable stay and the bed were so comfortable. Alan was just so accommodating to every need and Sharron cooked a beautiful breakfast.

Staff were welcoming, incredibly helpful and friendly. The room was lovely and had all we needed (except teaspoons!). Fabulous location- restaurants, theatres etc.

The fridge was a little grubby and the old building meant we had a room with sloping ceilings - lovely but dodgy at night and if you are tall!

Great selection at breakfast, all food was delicious. Bed was very comfortable. 10 minute walk to York Barbican. 5 minutes away from shops.

The lounge, the bar areas, the dining room & the gardens were all lovely.

The room we were allocated was the tiniest hotel room I’ve ever seen, it was claustrophobic, the bed & furniture were tired & old, the walls were so thin we could hear the people 2 rooms down having sex, to get to the room we had to carry our case up several flights of stairs and the corridor to these particular rooms was dark and narrow. When we left the hotel in the evening to go for a walk there was a serious altercation in the reception area with a very drunk half naked woman, her friend and a dog being manhandled by staff. When we got back to the hotel about an hour later there were 2 x police cars and an ambulance related to the earlier altercation. The deputy manager and the security guard did their best to contain the situation but it was upsetting to witness. The breakfast was congealed and cold. There was building work happening throughout the hotel and the builders vans were outside our window and so they slammed their doors whilst unloading their equipment early in the morning.
