After a week away and 7 hours driving, Brewdog Doghouse Manchester was the perfect place to stop on route. It was a lovely surprise to receive our welcome drink and credit towards tea - I'd forgotten they were included. The restaurant/bar team were fabulous and we were even lucky enough to win a game of Rock Paper Scissors to bag a free dessert. The room was comfortable, clean, had THE BEST shower and we had the best nights sleep we'd had all week.

Location at top of hill close to the Cathedral (less hills). Spacious apartment with parking outside gate at the weekend. Comfortable bed, clean bedding. Lovely views across the town and countryside. Easy to find. Lovely cleaning lady. Helpful owners on hand when needed to iron out any issues.

Cleaning needed a top up (dusty) but this was quickly rectified by the owners’ son. Bathroom smells from drains. Sofa a little uncomfortable (needed more cushions). Milk for tea would have been a thoughtful addition after a 4 hour journey. The guest guide needed an update.

Gorgeous furnishings, super comfortable bed. Yummy food in the pub and super helpful staff. I ended up poorly and stayed an extra night - Colin (owner) was so lovely, making sure I could order room service so could rest in my room. Thank you!!

Lovely staff, beautiful bedroom, delicious Sunday roast, comfortable outdoor space, fridge with water, milk and cake, delightful village with shop, pretty church and John Clare’s house museum and teashop. All at a very reasonable price.

We found the bed rather creaky and too firm for us.

Location was great for moving around the city. Great shops and parks within walking distance. Hackney is a great, chill area. Check in was easy and staff were fairly friendly. Room size was good.

Room was very dusty, there were a lot of dust and trash under the bed. Mattress was pretty worn and uncomfy, pillows were very thin and uncomfy. Mattress, pillow and blanket were stained. There was a mirrow on the door but no light in the roof so the room was very dark. No soundproofing - were able to hear the person in the nex room over having a conversation and fully hear all they said.

The location is lovely and the staff on reception were very helpful. The pool/spa is nice, especially the sauna.
Negative section of review
The service in the restaurant is terrible. The staff badly need training. They took forever to take our orders, then brought the wrong things, and spent most of their time flirting with each other instead of clearing plates or attending to customers. When food is that expensive, you expect decent service to go with it.

Very long distance and a bit of a confusing route to room which were not told about, no lift to this area, no good if had mobility problems, luckily not an issue for us.
