Positive section of review
This hotel was a revelation like a secret unpublicised. Placed in a beautiful setting in the foothills of the 'Peaks' amongst well kept gardens and parading peacocks making their presence felt. I was expecting a Best Western type venue but what I got was the kind of individual service attention only found in luxury hotels. Dating back to 1581 the reception area was black oak beams, stone chimney-pieces and antiquity. The dinner was beautifully cooked finished with hot apricot pudding dessert. I made a note to try and return.

I didn't like the width of the corridors which meant on occasion having to negotiate them at an angle. My room at the end of a long winding corridor had no less than five level changes, small 2 inch ledges to accommodate the ancient beams beneath no doubt on that first floor. Given the Tudor listing and the costs involved in resolving this deficiency it was understandable but inevitably holds back the charge rates.

It was our second stay. The accommodation is scrupulously clean and a thoughtful basket of cereal and other foodstuffs and milk in the fridge was really helpful. Comfortable bed and all appliances you could need. Would stay again definitely and recommend to others. Our best accommodation on a trip to Northern Ireland.

The hotel is a lovely building. The room was very clean and well stocked. The staff were great and all were welcoming and friendly. The food was lovely with lots of flavour.

Pillows were a little hard, so I would say alternatives should maybe made available. Pool area and changing rooms could do with being checked for cleanliness a bit more often. As an extra note Please look out for the steps could be slippery although hand holds are there.

We took a 91 year old relative away for a few days and I chose the property because it was described as an apartment. I therefore thought that all of the accomodation would be on one level, so access to the toilet and bedroom would be easy for him but there is no mention of stairs or photographs of the stairs in your write up. Thankfully although our relative has limited mobility, he could get up the stairs, but we could have had a very difficult situation and perhaps other people booking this property would find it helpful for you to be more explicit about the stairs. Also a teapot would be a great addition.
