Wow, I really liked the idea of sweet music sounds playing at the entrance of The Mirador Hotel to welcome you,. I have been stayed at several hotels and guest houses, and it's the first time i have been welcomed like that in such a wonderful way, ! I thought the decor was exceptional good, it was obviously a lot of though attention to detail, had gone into doing this, with the extra lovely touches to get it just right for expected guests such as myself, such as the Egyptian Pharaohs ornaments and furniture pieces, the living room/bedroom space continuing into the statement decor bath/ shower facilities too, I must say i was well impressed by this... the bed was lovely too not too soft or hard mattress, Thank you for making my overnight stay for my birthday such an enjoyable experience.🎂 I have been telling my friends and family about this guest house in the Uplands, as i definitely recommend this as place to stay whether for leisure or business trip...

"The only negative things i will mention about was cause the Egyptian Pharaohs guest room was high up in the lap of the gods", the highest bedroom in the Mirador guest house, It took a while for the shower facilitiy to heat up to required hot temp, i was able to get a reply quick from the owners who run this guest house, to find out why it was taking longer than expected for shower facility water to warm up... the only other thing i was a bit wary about was closing the second door handle in my guest bedroom, wondering if the door handle was secure enough for my stay, I think on reflection this was due to my past experiences in other places i have been to in which, i have had negative experinces of being accidently locked in toilets as the door handle has unexpectedly becoming jammed.

It seems only one person working in the reception We arrived and nobody at the front desk. We had to wait outside the building for 5 mins because nobody was there to give us access. Not enough staffing Didn’t like the wall art in the bedrooms . Weird vibe . Property is difficult to reach by car as the road it is on is highly congested with difficult signs to follow if you are from out of town. Additionally, some dodgy looking people roaming this street so I wouldn’t advise for families with kids. Not enough car park for property residents - we were told it is fully booked which caused a nuisance.

The hotel was very nice, clean and well organised. The room was comfortable and the ensuite spacious

It was a little difficult to find as you arrive at a surrounding metal fence with a gate with a large sign 'security' which makes you think you have come to the wrong place as there is no sign there for the lodge. Dont worry - go inside metal gate, travel past the agricultural buildings and you will find a sign to 'hotel and restaurant' - there you will find the lodge.

I had a sea view which was very good. Designated motorcycle parking directly opposite is great.

Obscure bedroom at the top of a very narrow staircase - servants’ quarters. Aberystwyth hotels are over-priced.

If you are going to be dog friendly……once there encourage….ie please allow more areas internally for owners and pets can be together in the bar areas. We visit a lot of hotels, and hotel has the most restrictions. I understand not restaurant area, but you could place some extra tables and chairs for dogs and owners outside the pool table area, or make the pool room a dog friendly room, pets on the hill, I promise it would be very popular. You have the original wooden doors throughout the building, at the front, toilets etc…..the brass work is dirty, cleaned would show the extra mile on cleanliness and presentation.

The overall package didn't stand up to the price we paid. It was an expensive option so we expected some wow factor, there wasn't any. The breakfast was not good for the price paid, the selection was poor and the quality of food was low. There are better options for less money available in the Torbay area.
