The Columbia is exceptional. Boutique Hotels try to recreate this retro feel but The Columbia is the real thing. In addition it is spacious and bright set in stunning buildings. The bedrooms are really well done and my modestly priced room had high ceilings and large sash windows.

I wish I'd known about it before now.

Bed was comfortable. Nice view from window. Room decent size. Lady at breakfast very friendly. Good cooked breakfast but disappointing gluten free bread had been used up. We had advised in advance about gluten free needs.

Had to ask for more towels as only 1 shower & hand in room. One of the additional towels was stained. Bin in room hadn’t been emptied from previous occupants. We couldn’t make the shower very warm. Overall felt housekeeping had let hotel down.

The property looks lovely initially, with a good layout and decor, however, it needs an update and a good clean. The location was great to get about Sheffield Centre.
Negative section of review
The property was not very clean, there is damp, and the chalking is starting to mould, particularly in the bathroom. The room felt unclean, therefore we slept on top of the bed, and did not use the shower due to its uncleanliness. There is a £100 damage fee that they hold on top of your payment, and you have to contact the owner to get the code for the key, Booking.com does not provide it. The room was a little out of my budget, but I needed something quickly. There isn’t actually any parking, the road outside the building is a single yellow line so a lot of people were chancing it.

The property had everything needed for a short self catering holiday. The caravan is beautifully decorated inside and very comfortable.

Price was somewhat over inflated to align with the ETAPE Caledonia cycle event. Room was tired with furniture on the scabby side.
