The room was lovely and clean I was upgraded to a bigger room The food was beautiful The grounds were also beautiful but I feel it could have been a bit more maintained The gym was well equipped with some good machines available The catering staff were always friendly and welcoming however the reception staff weren’t as inviting.

The view wasn’t the best as it was a view of delivery vans and the bins. The spa was cold in general, no relaxing background music, the chairs were a weird shoe and wasn’t relaxing to lay on. I didn’t feel relaxed at all so that was disappointing as I was looking forward to be able to enjoy that.

The hotel comes under the 'shabby chic' category as it is very old as can be seen by the architecture and old window frames. However it was comfortable and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful.

Minor really- The indoor swimming pool has a flight of stairs that we had to use and my wife and I have trouble with stairs. There is a lift to the basement floor(-1) but the passageway from the lift to the swimming pool is reserved for 'staff only', clearly because of all the laundry stuff etc.. It would have been good not to have used the stairs!!

The breakfast was fantastic. The restaurant was splendid. The staff was professional and friendly and gracious. The manager made it possible for us to stay an extra night without changing rooms.

Good location for us, short walk to Shoreditch. Helpful doorman, clean room and nice bathroom. We only stayed one night and didn't take breakfast.
