Great location for central Newcastle, the staff were friendly & helpful. The breakfast was very nice & cooked to (my very specific) order, would recommend eating at the restaurant within the hotel, Leila Lily's (good value for residents). The White Company toiletries provided smelled divine. Due to the quirky conversion of this Georgian building, be aware that there will very likely be a few steps to navigate to get to your room.

A small thing but we had to phone reception to have the air con adjusted (rather than have 'in room' control to choose a temperature below 19), this was sorted within 30 mins, so for our second night the temperature was more suited to us.

Dinner was great but cooked breakfast let the hotel down doesn’t matter how dinner was the last thing customer does is have breakfast before they go and that’s what they remember the hotel with all the cooked breakfast was cooked in the oven even the eggs and then put under the heat lamp for to dry out

The corridor area carpet was badly stained We were given a ground floor room this time but walkers looked in and cars passed the window so will be sure to ask for a first floor room next time. Bed was very firm.

Spa was good and everything was working. Breakfast was very nice and service was really good.

The bed was unbearable.we contemplated leaving before the second night because it was so uncomfortable. In fact the bed is the very thing that would put us off going there again. Spa could do with being monitored and kept clean it was a bit skanky and slimy. Instead of sitting behind the desk on their phones the staff could just do some checks.

breakfast was very limited We were allocated the only dog friendly room in the lodge and we were not previously made aware of this .
