I loved absolutely everything about this special cottage! The moment I found this serene gem surrounded by trees I was so happy. Lovely Lucy was there to greet us and ensure we had the best stay ever in The Anvil. A charming upside down cottage with extra comfy beds in delightful rooms. The best bathroom ever! And upstairs is a lovely big extra comfy sitting room with beautiful vaulted ceilings! And right next to that is the perfect kitchen! Which leads out onto my new favourite deck in the world! Extremely well done and super comfortable lounge and table with lovely chairs and cushions! And of the fabulous fairy lights at night. I could not have been happier! It’s definitely the best cottage I’ve ever stayed in by far. And I have stayed in many many cottages over the years. Only a very few have come close to being as beautiful and lovely and full of warmth and charm as The Anvil.

Well that’s a difficult question. Only one thing we forgot to ask Lucy for was some aluminum foil. Everything else and more was provided. Beautiful welcome gifts from Lucy and George! There simply was not anything to not like about the property.

The scenery is fantastic and easy to walk into the town, or along to the harbour with a short coast walk. I also really liked the hotel and the decor. The heating was broken when we were there and the weather was shocking, but the staff put a portable fan in our room to help us warm up and dry off which was kind.

Nothing really, although it’s having a bit of a renovation at the moment. When the renovations are finished, it will be stunning.

Breakfast had good portions. Nice fresh fruit available. The room was nice - comfy bed. The bathroom was large with a good shower. Staff were friendly and helpful.
Negative section of review
The decaf coffee was poor. The vegetarian breakfast was not good quality compared to the meat version. We were locked out of the breakfast room until 9am and breakfast was only available 9-10am which was a bit restrictive. The room was v hot and the door handle v stiff.

Extremely close to public transport and airport. The petrol station next door is convenient for bits and pieces.

We recently stayed at the "Delta Hotels by Marriott Cheltenham Chase" based on our prior good experiences at this hotel, but unfortunately our experience this time was disappointing. While the hotel itself has potential, there were significant issues with cleanliness during our stay. It seemed that a few groups staying at the hotel were not respectful of the common areas, leading to a lack of cleanliness that detracted from the overall experience. Although this may not be directly the fault of the hotel or staff, it is still the hotel's responsibility to maintain a clean and pleasant environment for all guests. We were expecting the common areas to be well-kept, but instead they often felt more like a bustling market than a relaxing hotel. (I am sure this can be verified with CCTV footage.) Additionally, the general lack of decorum from some guests disrupted what should have been a peaceful stay. It's important for a hotel to ensure that all guests can enjoy a serene atmosphere. I hope the management can address these issues and improve the standards of cleanliness and guest behaviour in the future. With better maintenance and a stronger emphasis on ensuring a respectful environment, the "Delta Hotels by Marriott Cheltenham Chase" could offer a much more enjoyable experience.
