The room was freshly renovated and spacious with almost everything needed. The mountain view was amazing. I enjoyed sitting on a window sill in the morning drinking coffee, relaxing and watching the surroundings. The hotel is located in the same building as the pub (pretty obvious), and this is the best and most popular pub within 5 km. We normally tend to explore the location and dine in different places, but it really was the best dining spot and we visited it 3 times during a 2-night stay. If you wanna stay in the room, watch telly and go to bed at 10 PM, it is not the right place (pub closes at around midnight and it tends to be noisy especially when there is live music). But it you enjoy the atmosphere it is perfect. There was a cozy yard to enjoy the drinks. Bed was comfy. The hills nearby are perfect for a hike. Overall really good value for money.

Interior was lovely in the hotel; good location with bus stop right outside the door. All was good until we went for diner in the restaurant, sitting at the table noted mice running around. Very poor response on informing the restaurant staff. Left without diner

The hotel was spotlessly clean, and the free parking was a bonus. The staff were pleasant, especially the blonde lady supervising breakfast, and the young male receptionist.

The beds were what I can only describe as sprung camp beds, with thin mattresses. Not very comfortable.

Couldn’t get a more perfect location for exploring York. Everything in walking distance and added parking made it even better. Host was very quick to respond when needed.

Not the cleanest. Definitely needs a bit of tlc. Shower doesn’t stay hot for very long at all whether you have showers in the morning or evening makes no difference. Poor lighting in the kitchen.

Querky breakfast room furnished with a mixture of heavy varnished furniture, modern prints and slightly shaky chairs. The shower was good.

The bed mattress was soft and sagged and the pillows were hard....... The WiFi was patchy with the best signal in the breakfast room.

The bedroom we were in (#2) is tired. The carpets are over used, the bathroom is passable, the air conditioning varied its temperature throughout the night. The buildings on the walk to the bedroom are scruffy and in need of maintenance. We ate in the bar. The barman wouldn’t let us run a tab despite staying there, and wouldn’t allow me to use a card to get £1 for the pool table. Generally unhelpful. I’ve never been to such an unaccommodating bar.
