The staff were very helpful upon arrival and git me settled in ok. The kitchen was well equipped and the lounge room very comfortable. The grounds outdoors are just lovely.

The kitchen is in separate building to main building. This was a nuisance if one wanted to make a cuppa or grab something to eat in late evening when dark outside.

I'd say location as you're definitely close to everything - But Betws is very small, and this is actually one of the accomodations furthest from the center

I would not stay there again, nor recommend it to anyone unless your budget really does not allow you to go anywhere else. My first impression was already not great as I received self check-in codes only an hour before check-in time - but it was no problem for them to send a message the day before when it came to trying to sell me a pizza. Noting also that the message was puzzling, simply asking if I wanted a pizza without any added explanation. The rest wasn't any better. The only reason I had booked there was that the listing advertised laundry as a facility (albeit with additional charge). As I'm traveling very light, that was really important to me. Turns out there's no laundry except when someone is around, which seems to be exactly when you don't need it, i.e. the hours when you're presumably out exploring. I even ended my hike earlier to be able to do laundry, but by 6.30pm there was no one at the hostel and no way to do laundry. They told me someone would be there at 9am the next day to help me with that - when I told them this was too late (as I was going to leave earlier than that), they simply stopped answering. There is also no access to the kitchen, using the covid pandemic as an excuse for limiting services even further. The dorm only had one spot with plugs, by the door. I had a look on the side of the bed to see if I dropped anything there before leaving - would have been better if I hadn't. Clearly, it's been a LONG time since it had been cleaned Showers are some of the tiniest I've seen in any hostel, with no shelf, hook or slighest bit of space to put anything. The toilets are much larger, so you could at least change there, but also include no hook or shelf Finally, they only turned on the heating around 6pm, and had turned it off by 8-9pm. The other person in my dorm asked them to turn it on again via message, which they did - although they turned it off again a bit later.

Clean comfortable room (if a bit too hot with no opening window or working aircon) with easy access to city centre within short walk.

The noise - really loud music until very late from pub below our first floor room with no indication on booking or warning on checking in. Pub customers rowdy with outside seating/smoking area directly below our window. Breakfast advised as available from “next door cafe” was in fact a catering van in the pub car park which wasn’t even open on our second day (bank holiday). Limited car parking space with car park used by pub customers and food delivery drivers (uber/just eat/deliveroo) therefore parking space availability not guaranteed.

There is a big problem with parking, there is no parking, you just have nowhere to leave your car, every space near this building was busy, the owners don’t provide any help in finding a place, or reserve a place for this apartment. We found one a little further from the side where there was a sign that residents could park, but the next morning we received a huge piece of paper on the windshield that we created inconvenience for someone, although there were several free spaces nearby (we still don't know if it will end with fine, it spoiled all the impressions). Lack of bedding (sheets) for the sofa (we were three adults and one child), so we used the sofa as a sleeping place for two adults and there was nothing to cover it comfortably. Of course, host was brought to us when we wrote about it, but the sheet was short and not for the sofa, so it created inconvenience and an uncomfortable sleep. Also, some kitchen utensils are missing if you plan to stay there for a long time and prepare food yourself.
