The Royal Glen describes itself as "Regency elegance" and lives up to it. Although in many ways a posh hotel, it was not stuffy at all and all the staff were very friendly. Being able to write our journal in the grand upstairs drawing room, with its gilt-framed mirrors and antique furniture, was a treat. After a day's walking on the South West coast path, the small heated swimming pool was another treat. In other circumstances, we would also have enjoyed sitting in the gardens. It's well located for the coast path, at the start of Sidmouth, up a quiet street. Both dinner and breakfast were excellent (we especially liked the bubble and squeak) - and the B&B price was very good for the quality of stay and food.

All the staff were exceptional. Our relaxed check in from Gary with coffee’s started our stay as it continued. Rooms immaculately clean with stunning countryside views. Comfy bed & easy parking. Free fudge a nice touch.

Lovely riverside position, excellent restaurant and food with very good staff. Plenty of riverside parking. Easy stroll into good town of Ross on Wye.

Mattress seemed to sink in the middle and ultra small bathroom sink. But otherwise bedroom very spacious and clean with lovely roomy shower.

The door felt light and very easy to break into so I didn’t feel safe in the flat. The bathroom stank of smoke, I think coming from next door flat through vent? There were a lot of suspicious characters around the street and neighbourhood so I didn’t feel safe in the location.

It was close to Stansted Airport and there was parking.

There where 3 young men in the property, drinking and shouting all night. We eventually got up and left at 4am and slept in the car. (I realise the owners are not directly responsible for their behaviour) The room was supposed to have a private bathroom, this did not exist. We were unable to use the basin in the communal shower room as it was full of sick. The main light in the bedroom did not work. The kitchen where the three young men remained was like a bomb site, rubbish everywhere so we made no use of it. It was such a bad experiance I would like my money back

The reception was in total disrepair, the corridors and rooms had a foul smell. The room allocated to us was nothing like the pictures advertised. The room looked like it had not been cleaned from the previous person staying in the room, the toilet and shower was dirty. There were open/used items left in the room. The atomosphere made us feel uncomfortable. When we went to reception to ask if we could have another room because of the above issues, we were just told that there was no other rooms available and that was it that. The staff did not offer to clean the room or compensate for issues. We therefore checked out and didn’t stay the night, and had to pay at another hotel.
