Positive section of review
Loved the surroundings and how peaceful the area was. Beautiful gardens full of flowers and vegetation. We particularly loved the honeysuckle that we walked under before entering the hut, smelt amazing! The welcome cream tea, fresh flowers, and note from the owners, along with homemade bread and gin, was a really lovely touch. The folder with additional tips and advice was great, as well as all the information Anthony provided us. We loved the cosiness and charm we felt as soon as we entered the hut. Also, the slider shoes that were left for us to use were a lovely touch and very handy for the hot tub! We felt it was a very homely and unique experience with a lot of charm and character.

Nothing really! The only things I would suggest are: - Kitchen roll would have been handy on the side. - Found the steps as you exit the hut a bit tricky to walk down from as a little narrow. - A note in the folder to advise where the trip switch is in the case of a power cut would have been handy(which we had due to a pan boiling over on the hob). - The main table for eating off was not level and at quite an angle, so this was a bit tricky at times, making sure things didn't fall off.

Tucked away in a serene spot, but still very convenient to Bournemouth, everything about Heronshaw House was unexpectedly pleasing. Facilities, comfort, cleanliness and food were all excellent, but the warm, kindly welcome from owner Mike was the best that I've ever received. And the breakfast was in a different league to other similar establishments I've stayed in.

The scenery is fantastic and easy to walk into the town, or along to the harbour with a short coast walk. I also really liked the hotel and the decor. The heating was broken when we were there and the weather was shocking, but the staff put a portable fan in our room to help us warm up and dry off which was kind.

Nothing really, although it’s having a bit of a renovation at the moment. When the renovations are finished, it will be stunning.

Closeness to city centre. Comfortable bed. Plenty of room. Breakfast was plentiful with many choices but we had to cook our own and cleaning up was our responsibility which we did

I didn't realise that it was a shared bathroom situation which if I had I wouldn't have booked the Castlereagh guest house. We didn't receive email regarding entry into the property and access to our room. Lucky for us another couple arrived not long after us and they had received their instructions on how to get in. I had to check my emails and instructions which there were one and quested the required information. They did this almost immediately.

We booked a cot, reminded the hotel about it about an hour before we arrived, telling them we had a sleeping baby (we arrived before midnight). The receptionist confirmed the cot should be in the room… it was not. They provided one that night but was faulty and it only had a folded blanket on its base, which was unsafe and uncomfortable for the baby. We had to sleep the baby with us the entire time we were there (3 nights) as the hotel had not remedied the situation.Although we asked them for a proper cot mattress the next day, it was not provided. If they had advised they had no cots or no cot mattresses, we would have brought one with us.
