Good location. 1 min walk from Paddington train and tube station. That’s where positives end. We refused to stay in this hotel cause of the unsanitary conditions and they moved us to Mercure Hyde park hotel, which was a much better hotel

- Dirty and stained carpets, musky wet smells, room smelled of cigarette smoke - Air conditioning wasn’t working and we were not told this prior to check in. When asked why this wasn’t mentioned, reception staff simply said “oh we didn’t know” -When we wanted to speak to the manager, we were simply just given a number to ring (rather than staff ringing) - Rooms the size of a shoebox, no room to even walk around the bed and no space to put suitcases etc (and this was after we were “upgraded”, can’t even imagine the size of the original room if this is the size of the bigger room) - All staff except the doorman were unprofessional and had a lackadaisical attitude

The location is good for getting a bus into central Edinburgh. Also right next to 2 supermarkets. Very scenic walking areas quite close too. The room also looked very nice.

Our bed was the other side of the partition wall to the front door. As it was keypad entry we had other guests beating on the door in the middle of the night as part of their group had returned before them and they had forgotten the code! We could also hear the door bang every time someone came in/out and this reverberated through the bed. The single pull out bed was incredibly hard and we did not see it fit to be considered a bed as such.
