The location is perfect as located right next to the Finland amusements, only 5 minutes walk to the town centre and also perfectly located for a short walk to the beach and pleasure land and retail outlet. The decor is amazing inside the hotel and the views of the lake are great. It wasn't the warmest on our visit but we was lucky with the rainfall and so got chance to pop out onto the sun terrace which I can imagine is gorgeous on a hot summer's day. It was my little boys birthday too on the day of leaving and the staff went the extra mile to give him a little birthday treat with breakfast which was really appreciated. All the staff were more than helpful with queries we had and also provided extra pillows on request. The food we had on our first night from the restaurant was exceptional also. We had breakfast included and this was also very good with a choice of full English, cereals, fruit, croissants and a good selection of jams and honeys.

The only downfall for us was that although our room did have a side view of the lake which an adult could see standing my little one was unable to see it as there was also a balcony around the perimeter which we couldn't access as it was just a tilt opening top window and we also had the air conditioning generator immediately outside of our window and just a view of the stones and wall unless like I said was standing and could see the lake and sail boats above the wall.

It was a great hotel with a lovely room, and I loved the fact that it was right opposite the station I had travelled especially to see. The hotel staff allowed me to keep my luggage there for the day too, and helped me arrange a taxi. They were so helpful.

Lovely location and exceptional hostelery as the name suggests. Having driven past the location many times since 1973, I was happy to finally visit the castle. The food was delicious and the service to a high standard.

Although we had a lovely room it was very cold even though the weather was good. We were told that the heating only comes on from 20:00 until 22:00 hours. Even that didn't occur in our room and yet the passageways leading to our room were quite warm. In the end I had to ask for an electric heater ( rather than be offered one) after which the room did become bearable. The large TV in the bedroom didn't receive any signal properly, hence a nice evening in bed after dinner was not possible and being in our 70s this was to be part of our luxury stay. A gentleman did try to help but it was obviously an aerial malfunction. Also the tiny TV in the sitting room area was connected to a 'one for all' interior antenna which also seems to bare out the fact that the building aerial didn't function properly/sufficiently. I reported this immediately after checking in but to no avail or satisfaction. Saying this the staff on duty did try to help. I also reported it to the receptionist upon checking out. I am still awaiting contact from the manager as promised.....a week has gone bye as yet to no avail.....

Their hospitality was phenomenal. Charlotte was amazing. She made every effort to make our stay a memorable one. Kids loved the surroundings. They played with the sheep's 😀😀 and had a lovely time too.

The place is relatively small, the water pressure of the shower is very low so very little water come out and it take a while for the water to warm up. At night, my internet connection got bumped out, my guess was too many people were using the wifi.

Could have used a small desk or table. Playing cards my sister and I struggled a bit with using just a chair, but not overly important for a 2 night stay. I got beaten ruthlessly anyway ...
