Yes the place could do with a lick of paint overall but this isn't a four star hotel and doesn't pretend to be ... however it was clean, comfortable (we had an excellent night's sleep) the breakfast for the price is amazing and the staff is as friendly as can be. You mix with the collegiate world, students and academia alike. For the price we couldn't fault it and it was a perfect location to go and see my son. Altogether we will definitely be returning!

The owners are very friendly and welcoming. The place is near a morrison and the room was comfortable. It is an ensuite and the room as a small mini fridge if you have something to needs to chill.

The lift was out of order, and we were not informed beforehand. Our room was on the sixth floor, with twin beds, and it smelled of cigarettes. I assume guests smoked in the room because the lift wasn't working. We switched to a room on the fifth floor, but there were no twin beds available. When we requested an extra blanket, it took two hours to arrive. Despite having to constantly climb the stairs, the staff remained friendly and patient. Service was slow, but this seems to be a management issue rather than the staff's fault. More personnel should be hired if the lift is not functioning. We went to breakfast at 9:20 am, though it was supposed to be available until 10 am. Most items were already gone, and when replenished, they disappeared quickly. This is another management problem. I frequently stay at Holiday Inn because I expect consistent quality, but this experience was disappointing and not up to standard.
