Her recommendation really made a difference to our trip...we would have tried to lug our large suitcases from Nikko to Tokyo (thinking that it was only a train ride away) if not for her advice to pre-send them to our Tokyo hotel.   I liked the fact that there was a staff presence most of the time. My room at the very top involved climbing quite a few stairs, but it was of a fair size, with hot water, easy to use shower, and a small fridge. It was very clean and I found the bed comfortable. Breakfast was an optional extra and it was fine. My room had a rooftops view and was quiet, even though the hotel was on the sea front. It was a short walk from the railway station and from Harold Place, where the buses stop. The old town was a bit further. I'd stay again.

  Breakfast good. More choice of fruit needed. Great young assistant volunteered to get sausages for Hamish our westie! All staff friendly. Young lady who checked us in smiley and enthusiastic. Shower very small, difficult for anyone with even slight mobility issues. Towels thin. Toiletries good quality and lovely smell. Gardens lovely, shame about the weather! Great building and location. Would like to stay again.

  Reported problem on 1st morning with toilet not flushing at reception desk before we went out for the day. On return we checked and toilet still did not flush so spoke to different girl at reception who knew nothing about it. She offered no apology or explanation and did not even confirm if anyone had been out to look at it for us. She asked if we wanted another room which obviously we did to get a proper functioning toilet! We were given another room on 1st floor for another night and we left on Sunday anyway. No further update was provided. Poor customer service from reception staff and there never appeared to be any senior member of staff around reception to report anything to

  Hotel is attached to a pub who had Karaoke on that night. Description did not advise this was the case. Was excessively loud and extremely hot. Sign says only to open window in an emergency and it only opened a couple inches. Messaged the host and then booking.com Host ignored it and never got back to booking about it either. Ended up forking out nearly £200 to get last 2 rooms at another hotel 20 minutes away.
