Travel Gurus sharing their best tips

How does it work?

  • 1

    It starts with a booking

    It starts with a booking

The only way to leave a review is to first make a booking. That's how we know our reviews come from real guests who have stayed at the property.

  • 2

    Followed by a trip

    Followed by a trip

When guests stay at the property they check out how quiet the room is, how friendly the staff are and more.

  • And finally, a review

    And finally, a review

After their trip, guests tell us about their stay. We check for naughty words and verify the authenticity of all guest reviews before adding them to our site.

Hotel is apparently dog friendly however not in the restaurant where breakfast is served but you can have breakfast in the bar area which wasn't made clear on arrival. You have to pay for parking which for the price of the rooms seems a bit tight. There is parking for the Idle Rocks. There were no little touches to make this feel like a luxury stay. Yes the room is nice but that was all. Some biscuits to have with the tea, a treat for the dog considering we paid a £30 supplement; little touches that I would expect. Having to walk through the bar and ask for milk for tea was not ideal. All of this made the stay feel like it was 'just a room' and not something special as planned. The shelves in the bathroom are absolutely useless! They are racks so everything falls through the gaps. The bed and pillows were very soft and the room was noisy with banging doors from the other rooms so we did not have a very good night's sleep. There were not enough staff at breakfast which meant a long wait for a coffee. We eventually gave up and just left. I have stayed in much nicer places for this money and I would not recommend staying here. Shower tray in the bathroom was overflowing. There are no staff to deal with the rooms, only the bar staff.

Beds far to soft. Very noisy hotel through out the night. Additional double glassing missing from one of the windows which didn't help with noise from the street.

We weren’t able to have breakfast in the main area so we had to bend over on small table to eat. Everytime we went to get food we were asked again to say our names to book us in! We were forgotten with coffee until we’d nearly finished our breakfast and I asked for a decaf tea but that never came. Check in was also very long even though I had booked and already paid through booking.com and showed the confirmation I was told one of the rooms was for the day before which it clearly wasn’t. This took a long time to sort out.
