After an initial confusion about checking in we found our room to be really lovely with beautiful pine furniture. The bed was extremely comfortable, the room was cozily warm and the bathroom was clean (save for a used hand towel left accidentally but there were plenty of fresh towels provided) with a good large shower area. The room was spotlessly clean. The breakfast was delicious. The staff were really friendly. We would definitely stay here again.

The staff were VERY friendly and helpful. The room was clean, well-equipped, quiet, and warm, with very comfortable beds. We appreciated having a kettle in the room with a choice of tea and coffee. I enjoyed using the hotel's swimming pool. The breakfast was tasty with a variety of food choices, including the opportunity to try local cuisine. We also enjoyed a view of the Thames River from the hotel restaurant:)

The location for a horse racing fan was fantastic. I certainly will be returning with a meeting in mind in the future. The bar/restaurant was adequate enough and the room was spacious and comfortable Bar staff, was very good with our young daughter, went above and beyond and all staff made you feel welcome.

Very lovely place to stay and close to everything. Leo the owner was so lovely and runs a very nice hotel. Room was just perfect for a couple and the view was amazing over looking Brighton Pier and the English Channel.

That said, the service starts at 3.30AM which was too late for me so I had to get a taxi at 2AM. Booked it via Reception who assured me that if i book with them, the price will be a set standard £15 (less than what black cabs charge). I specifically asked Reception when I booked the taxi that the driver accepts cards as i didn't have cash on me, and was told yes it will accept the card. The driver was not happy that I didn't have cash and it seemed to be news to him. He charged me £20 through the machine when the fare item clearly showed as 15. I'm not blaming the hotel but just fair warning to other travellers who have to use the taxi via them. The pillows had a strong bad smell to them, so I slept without them. The room itself also had a bad smell to it, and it could really use some updating as the place's age is really showing.

We requested a twin room and got a large double/king. The bed was sadly not comfortable. But our main issue was the food and poor eco experience. I phoned in advance to request vegan and vegetarian dinner and received one option each, the pasta was bland and far too big and the curry missed the naan bread as this wasn't vegan. The shower ran out of hot water. The soaps etc were not eco. The toilet cistern dripped all night. The hot water took over 2 mins to run in making a mockery of the eco policy. The room and especially the bathroom were cold with no heating available in the bathroom. The IR heating in the bedroom does not have a thermostat or timer. As IR heats objects not air it gets cold if turned off, but we didn't want to keep on all night (as probably 500-750 watts). In hindsight we should have done as it was cold. I was told in the evening that there was no vegan breakfast, despite having called to check in advance. Luckily a more experienced and hospitable member of staff in the morning arranged a good vegan breakfast. This hotel lists an extensive eco policy, but our experience did not reflect this. On explaining all of the above to the staff, we were assured the manager would contact me asap. Two days later and no one has contacted me.

Everything. Staff were unfriendly and rude and not helpful at all. For the price we paid it was very overpriced. I’ve stayed in hotels around the world and this one is without a doubt the worst. Beds weren’t made and the doona for one of the beds had faeces on it and when asked to change it the staff member at the desk wouldn’t help at all so no sleep occurred. When concerns were raised to reception staff they rolled their eyes and gave me a contact to make a complaint.
