We knew from reviews that one room had a separate bathroom but all rooms mention private bathroom so we hoped that didn't mean ours but sadly it was. This was quite an issue for us as both of us regularly wake in the night and having to sneak down the corridor trying not to wake the other two rooms was not pleasant or comfortable. Room was sparse no mirror or hairdryer and nowhere to sit other than the extremely low bed which was not ideal for 'older persons'. There were no freeview normal channels on TV so had to resort to watching classic movies on Roku or remember passwords for our own Netflix, iPlayer or Prime accounts etc. I would have expected access to at least basic channels but the TV has no signal. The house just lacked character and was unfinished, no shower mat, no towel rail to hang towels bathroom mirror leaning against the wall in the bathroom just not what we expected. The lounge had a lovely settee but no TV there either? Just missing a few touches even a bookshelf with some books to look at might have been a nice touch. The garden was lovely and the host's parents were so friendly and popped in to check all was ok such a shame it wasn't what we needed - rolling out of bed onto the floor to try to stand up several times a night then negotiate the dark landing so as not to disturb anyone to find the toilet no fun and going out with wet hair even less so. Cooling fans for the summer might also help as having to shut the bedroom door for privacy and not being able to leave the window open due to the summer flying insects when you're on farm land makes rooms rather warm! Fine for those used to house sharing, families who need the whole house or younger couples but sadly as much as we enjoyed a lovely weekend away, Fig Tree Cottage was not for us.

Seagull had got in through the window and left a "deposit" over the refreshment tray. Quickly allocated new room, with an apology. Waited 50 minutes for our evening meal to arrive (a choice of 3 small dishes for a fixed price) and when it came the order was was wrong. Waitress did not write down the order, so not surprised. Harry dealt with the problem very professionally. Cleaner had left a disgusting dirty cloth over the tea/coffee tray when doing the room. Put it in the bin but did not feel like using the tea/coffee making facilities.
