For first time visitors, you must do one of the Edinburgh Hop On - Hop Off Open top Bus Tours to see all the iconic places to visit. Best places were the Castle, Holyrood Palace, the Old Town, etc.. Plenty of excellent places to eat and would recommend The Outsider. Also if you're into Whiskey, try the Holyrood Distillery. Excellent tour and product.Guest review byIanUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Very busy but friendly city.
Very busy but friendly city. The local council could do more to keep it clean though! Too much graffiti and litter; footpaths very rocky and littered with broken slaps and patchy repairs. Apart from that, Glasgow is well worth a visit; stunning architecture; grid system streets layout; great food and an iconic railway station at Central.Guest review byMaiUnited Kingdom - 2.0

There are somehow literally no museums or libraries open on Mondays or tuesdays, which were the days I was stuck there as a travel layover. So I got stuck literally just sitting in a park in the rain twice for several hours waiting to check in to my hotel, as there was nothing else to do since I didn’t need anything from any stores or restaurants and no other indoor spaces or activities were open within an hour and a half of the city centre by public transit. There are also only two small, museums available even on other days. Inverness might actually have the worst museum ratio Ive encountered in the British isles. Almost everywhere else has some form of local history museum or the like, Inverness has one historic house and one art gallery.Guest review byAmeliaUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Never visited before- Aberdeen shone in the sunlight.
Never visited before- Aberdeen shone in the sunlight. Very Green on all road approaches and into the city. Great character - reminded me in many ways of Edinburgh [a city I do love]. I was expecting a grimy / dirty experience but it was far from that. Really impressed..... Lovely eatery options and pubs / entertainment. Docks also much bigger than expected. Tarragon on the Terrace gave us our best meal of a two week trip around both the Orkneys & Mainland Scotland - just excellent. Very walkable City Centre - not flat but that adds character. Don't be afraid to go down the steps / side streets etc. if you can. The Maritime Museum must get a special mention, really interesting and amazingly free to enter - entirely worth a visit.Guest review byKevinUnited Kingdom - 8.0

A small town but with shops, cafes, cinema and good rail and bus links.speciailses in outdoor activities as UK outdoor centre. The West Highland walking Way from Glasgow ends here and the Great Glen way to Inverness commences. Lots of walks from low level to high mountains with bike trails and plentiful buses to lochs and mountains. The town sits on a loch amidst mountains and the loch is actually a 30 mile inlet of the Atlantic. Thomas Telfords, Caledonian Canal and Neptunes Staircase ( locks) is nearby with boat moorings.Guest review bygeorgeUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Oban is the gateway to the isles but is also such a beautiful and pleasant little town with much to do and explore. Something that is often overlooked but always a must for me is at the end of the day to head up to McCaig's Tower and watch the sunset over Mull, Lismore and Morven. A more beautiful vista you will struggle to find.Guest review byChris ColemanUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Dundee is a beautiful place by the sea. We went to the Verdant Jute Mill which is a must see!!! We ate supper at Malmaison and stayed there too. This was a perfect location as it was close to the water, the beautiful ship and the train station. The food was fantastic!!!Guest review byIreneCanada - 10.0
