Room was a little small but to be honest my older sister and I slept in twin beds and we both agreed that our night was the best sleep we had on our 2 week trip all over the UK. Our host Phil was awesome. He made sure we had everything we needed. Breakfast was very good. I would stay here again.

Penrith is a picturesque little town that is a perfect place to stay if you want to explore the Ullswater area. We found it the perfect place to lay over following along drive up from Chatsworth that day. We were originally contemplating staying close to Carlisle but glad we didn't since the extra half hour on the road would have left us totally exhausted.

We returned to this hotel as we loved it when the children were young, but now our children are growing teenagers, the room was too small and too hot. There was no air conditioning in the room and for the price, there really should have been. The food was lovely and the staff pleasant, however the swimming times were restrictive for children. We visited Long Meg and her daughters, which was lovely and the car parking was free. If it's a nice day, take a picnic. You can also pick raspberries when there too.

Ideal location. Travelled by train and walked to hotel. Taxi driver at train station could have got the fare but he said its only a 5 minute walk from here. Arrived after 8 so couldn't sample evening meal but plenty of options near by for food Really nice ace to stay and would return. Comfortable bed and plenty of choice on breakfast menu.

We found Penrith a great place to make our base to do daily...

We found Penrith a great place to make our base to do daily drives around the northwest UK, including the Lake District, Carlisle and to visit part of Hadrian's Wall. Penrith is easy to get to by train. We hired a car locally (thanks, Eden Garage). All the facilities of a medium sized town were available to us. We had to be on alert when using the large local roundabouts on the southern outskirts of Penrith!

Penrith is a lovely small town with good independent shops and cafes/bars, a castle and pretty parks. Only stayed one night but had a fabulous Italian meal which was very good value for money, great staff and pretty location. Definitely worth a trip and much less busy than nearby Keswick. It's only a few minutes to Reghed too, which is always worth a visit if Only for an ice cream 🍦

Alison is a great host; warm, welcoming and very helpful. The room was warm and clean, the bed was comfortable and it was quiet at night. There were a number of breakfast options, and the food was of a good quality and well cooked. The location is excellent, with a private parking area at the rear of the property. I could walk into the town centre in a few minutes and it was ideally suited to visit Potfest. The accommodation is very good value for the prices, and No 3 will be my first choice on future visits to Penrith.

We had a very comfortable stay at The George Hotel Penrith a stunning 16th century hotel with original features and beautifully decorated for a traditional Christmas welcome. We had a queen size and very comfortable bed and an above average vegetarian breakfast. Although a late arrival the evening before, the staff could not have been more helpful with booking in, parking and even catching us up with something we'd left in the room when leaving the hotel this morning. Thank you

Lovely hotel right in the centre of Penrith with its own car park. Much to our surprise we were given the apartment. Would definitely come back with family. Everything very clean and comfortable. The breakfast was really good, with a range of choices - not just your usual egg and bacon! The cakes also looked nice, although we didn’t have time to sample any. Staff very friendly and quick and easy check in.
