    Love Scarborough.

Love Scarborough. Need to do something about the Pidgeon's, although I appreciate it is not easy. BUT it doesn't help the look of the place when all the pavements etc and filthy with bird muck. Shame the shows and orchestra at the Spa don't start until into the School Holidays.

The centre of Scarborough is very busy but has plenty of places to eat. Prices seemed a bit high but it is a tourist centre. If you want a more peaceful stay, head to North Bay. The walk along the coast is very accessible between North and South Bay, with interesting information panels along the sea wall. The Cinder Trail is an off road cycle and walking trail between Scarborough and Whitby which is worth using, with a good tea room at Ravenscar. It starts at the Sainsbury's car park and you can pay for longer than the free 2 hours.

There are still lots of signs of the old Victorian Seaside grandeur if you look hard but I guess people don't want that anymore, and the town's been taken over by cheap arcades, fish & chips and Wetherspoons-type bars. There are some nice parts particularly around the Castle and St.Nicholas Gardens, and some nice cafes and restaurants if you do your homework. The Grand Hotel is anything but these days, but worth a look to imagine what it would have like in it's heyday, but I wouldn't stay there.

The beach is lovely. Sea front looks lovely lit up at night Shame there is quite a few closed down places on the front and some are ready for a lick of paint. Parking is horrendous and you have to keep riding round and round to find anything Lovely fish and chips at Winking Willie

Scarborough is one of those places, from noisy arcades to ancient history. Fatty quick food to gourmet seafood. From staggering drunks to silent romantic walks. It's a place for everyone, it's beautiful with ugly spots. It's wonderful

It is nice, lots to see and do, a good couple of beaches, a very nice park, an old castle, you can walk for hours. It is part of England's history, what more do you want. And the Ask Italian is very good.

The Red Lea is an excellent hotel. It's location makes it an easy walk to Scarborough town centre and to the beach. There is no problem with parking, as there are plenty of on street parking spaces in front of the hotel. The reception staff are very welcoming and friendly. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. Excellent breakfast, with friendly, helpful staff in the dining room. I would highly recommend and will definitely book again.

Warm friendly welcome. Right round the corner from the beach and seafront. Close to town. Hotel is very clean and tidy! Came up for a wedding at the spa and the hotel was a nice walk along the sea front, avoiding all the fine hills of Scarborough. Excellent fish and chips close by. What more do you need?
