Very convenient location in the village of Battle. Within walking distance of everything. Not far (~5 minute walk) from municipal paid parking lot. Parking costs ~£1.50/hour. There is a free overrflow grass parking area adjacent to the paid lot, but the locals fill that lot by 7:00 a.m. according to the bar tender. Room was comfortable, very well decorated, and clean. Having a bar and restaurant downstairs was very convenient too. I thought the food was very good and the portion sizes were good. I felt the prices for food, beer and wine were reasonable. I would stay here again and would reccomend it to friends.

Battle was fine for a couple of hours.

Battle was fine for a couple of hours. We went in on a Saturday when there was a folk festival which was OK. People were very friendly at the town museum and we met a great artist, working with oil paints and coffee on steel. But the highlight of our trip was not Battle but going to Farley's Farm, the former home of Lee Miller and Roland Penrose. Also a great walk along the cliffs from Fairlight to Hastings.

Battle is a cute little town with a medieval village vibe. Lots of history surrounded by lush countryside with a short drive to the beach. Lots of quaint and quirky shops with a huge choice of tearooms and eateries. It is well worth a stroll around with a visit to the Abbey to add some culture.

The people in battle are so friendly.

The people in battle are so friendly. We sat and watched the men’s tennis final and the England woman’s football. We visited all of the bars and pubs in the village. It’s a shame about the noisy motorbikes whizzing through other than that it’s very oldy worldly for shops. I would have loved to of stayed longer and do the historical walks they signposted. Am definitely popping back. Sarah’s cellar is a must such a lovely lady

The Abbey was fantastic, and there are lots of really nice little tea shops. It's a pretty little town and some of the shops looked interesting, but unfortunately I visited on a Monday when most of them were closed. If you want to explore the shops and have a full choice of eating places, I recommend going later in the week. Lots of excellent, well sign-posted routes nearby, particularly for the 1066 walk.

They have the best coffee at a place called Rustico. They certainly know how to do coffee and pizza. The owner is Italian and the staff really nice and friendly. Plenty of pubs and places to eat, nice little shops too. There's the Abby and the Battle to see. Great place to visit.

Little high street with lots of shops, independent mainly and banks. A lot of history in the 1066 country and the museums are free, including the Almonry which is part of the town council building. The town slopes going down to the Monastery, easy to walk down to the church and the Monastery. It costs £16.75 to get into it per adult. English Heritage owns this.
