This is a magical town that you must go to once in your lifetime. Whilst it is generally regarded as a ski town, we thoroughly enjoyed to town and its hospitality when we travelled there in May. It is so pretty; the people are friendly and it is a very unique experience.

First and foremost, all the key highlights within Zermatt, are easily walkable. The trip on the cogwheel train appears to be busy regardless of season so we paid for priority seating. It made a difference! We boarded before the crowds and chose very comfortable seats on the right side of the train. We had investigated places for lunch and dinner prior to going-that really helped! Reservations for dinner are always recommended. Some places are not open on Sunday so be mindful of that.

Amazing place, highly recommend.
Amazing place, highly recommend. We took the cog railway to the Gornergrat and the cable car to the small Matternhorn. Beautiful views.
Classic breakfast - selection: salami, ham, cheeses, pastries, fruit, coffee, tea, cocoa, jams, cornflakes, yogurts, eggs... . Transportation: we mostly walked, it's not a big resort. We went to the start of the cable car in a 6-seater electric taxi. You could also pay by credit card, the taxi driver was very accommodating.

Its mesmerizing and must visit place, especially during snowing time. Entire Zermatt town covered with snow is a must see. Walking around the old cobble stoned streets and the trip to Gornergrat in snowing time is a thrilling experience.

We stopped in Zermatt as a way station so that we coud take the Glacier Express from Zermatt to St. Moritz, after visting Geneva for a week. The Glacier Express is a fantastic, slow train ride across the country with amazing views of the Alps and so much more. While in Zermatt, we went up to Glacier Paradise (over 13,000 feet high) so get a close up view of the Matterhorn and Alps - simply stunning. The ice cave there is pretty cool, too, all puns intended.
We're not skiers and Zermatt is obviously a world-class ski resort, but there's plenty to do for non-skiers, great restaurants, and of course, the amazing scenery.
It's really worth a visit as well as a ride on the Express to see the countryside. (If you're a couple, go first class and get the single seats facing each other with a table in between. Skip the meal though - it was lousy and served way too early because they have so many to serve - in our case, chicken tetrazzini at 11a.m. Not ideal. Just bring some good food on with you, and order cappuccinos or drinks on board if you want - there's service at the seats.)
(The attached photos are from Glacier Paradise and it's ice cave.)

Lively touristy town.
Lively touristy town. Advertised as being free of cars (neccessary because of the narrow streets) In practice, so full of electric taxis and delivery vehicles that one feels no benefit. As in other winter resorts, one's enjoyment is very dependent on the weather. We were very disappointed by the poor signage for winter/in-between-season walking paths
Wow! Where do we start? The staff were over the top in their help, their customer service, and their kindness. It was like coming back to family every time we returned from an outing. They would always ask us how we were and what we ended up doing. The food was phenomenal and the hotel itself was exquisite. Such a special place. It will always be our home away from home if we are lucky enough to visit Zermatt again. And we know the staff will welcome us back and ask how we have been. Breathtakingly beautiful property!
Zermatt is my favorite place to be in Switzerland I have been to other hotels in Zermatt and I would like to say that the hôtel post are my fav !!!
Especially the kindness of the personal !!! It’s important for me to feel like home and I feel like people care about us
I asked for the free shuttle and the driver was so so nice he made my day !
Covid allow 4 persons in the jacuzzi it’s perfect we had the jacuzzi all for ourselves !!!! 😃
Location perfect
Diner perfect
Thank you hôtel post !!!!
probably best hotel I've stayed in. Very large for a single room and large comfy bed. Balcony with view of Matterhorn. Kettle & fridge! Large indoor swimming pool and I was the only one in most of the time. Great breakfast buffet that varied daily a bit, with good selection of cheese and even smoked samon, with what seedmed like home made horseradish sauce. A house maid also came round every evening to make sure everything was okaywith the room! Only a short walk to both of the main ski lifts.
The room was clean and spacious. It has a huge closet and storage so that I could use them ENOUGH. It was the only hotel that provided gowns and indoor slippers. Through mirroring, I could watch Netflix as well. The staff were extremely friendly and felt like a family. Especially, the young pretty staff is the best and will help you at anytime. Wish you have a nice trip in Cananda next month. Finally, Thank you the elegant old lady for making us the best latte in a nice cup at breakfast.
If I could give the owner of this hotel a 20 out of 10, I absolutely would. Monique has a lot of love and passion for her hotel and her guests and it shows through in every aspect of this wonderful hotel. We stayed in the best room with a view of the matterhorn and she made sure we were happy. Her bar was always packed and it is low season and her restaurant full (again low season). Her food was exceptional and the service outstanding!!
You must stay here on your next trip to Zermatt.
We stayed at the Hotel Albana Real for 1 week over New Year. We had a really wonderful time. The staff are super friendly and really made our trip special. The spa facilities are lovely and a great way to relax after a hard days skiing. We would definitely recommend visiting the restaurants in the hotel : the Japanese is amazing for both Teppanyaki (which is really special) or the sushi bar. The Japanese is probably the best restaurant in Zermatt. 5 stars. Thank you so much Hotel Albana
This hotel had the best customer service I have ever experienced in Switzerland. Not only were the staff super friendly and helpful, but they always offered support before it was asked. Beautiful views and a stunning outdoor jacuzzi next to a waterfall. Exceptional breakfast for a small, boutique hotel with great service. They upgraded my room giving me excellent views of the Matterhorn. I enjoyed my stay very much and would totally recommend.
Friendly staff. Very helpful and accomodating. I had a request for an additional night which was handled by email and followed up very quickly. There is a large kitchen and common area which is very nice. Also, the outside seating in fron of the hotel is a plus. Overall the location is nice and it's one of the best accomodations if you're looking for something good at a very attractive price point for Zermatt.
It was a wonderful stay at the property for 7 nights. Thanks to the very humble and supportive Mr. Walter (host). He came to pick us up from the station. The property is next to a railway station and above a coop supermarket. Everything is easily accessible. All the crockery and utensils are available. Close to a ski lift and glacier paradise. I think this is one of the best properties in Zermatt.
This hotel is the best one I have ever been to.
It's worth every penny.
You have an incredible view of Matterhorn when you're eating or drinking at their bar, when enjoying your after-hike jacuzzi.
The breakfast had great products with high quality.
The scrambled eggs were to die for.
Their Wes Anderson aesthetic makes your stay feel a bit more special!
A hotel full of luxury and character!
This is one of the best staff I had in a hotel. I came here many years ago and I remembered the same, the staff is exceptionnal, really gives you the impression to feel at home. The restaurant is also great, such as the facilities and the spa with the wonderful pool. And the nice view above Zermatt, and so many things you'll have to discover... You really will enjoy this place.
This is arguably the most stylish, Lynchian hotel I’ve ever stayed in. Atmospheric, super-cool, dreamy, and very well-appointed and comfortable. The staff was also incredibly friendly and accommodating. And it was set off the main drag and very quiet. The best hotel in Zermatt. I can’t wait to return.
Everything. This is really the best possible choice for someone who is an avid skier and is looking for comfortable and a very good located hotel. However, if you are looking for saunas, swimming pools, candles in the evenings and any type of splendor and chic than this not the place for you.
We have never been to Zermatt. We were please that the hotel was so close to the bus station. It was extremely clean, new and very cute. It was very comforting for my family of 5. I would definitely recommend to anyone.
Excellent family run hotel in the heart of Zermatt. The staff was friendly, helpful, and always available. The spa was sparkling clean and a great way to relax after skiing. The breakfast was delicious.
Second year in a row staying at Alpina. Clean, comfortable, and great location. Affordable for Zermatt. Breakfast was included, and was the best I had in 2 week Switzerland/Italy trip.
very nice hotel and only walking distance to attraction area and to Zermatt Train Station…I really enjoyed staying here…The best part; I enjoyed seen the Matterhorn from the hotel…
Our biggest disappointment was that we couldn't stay longer! Hotel Arca Solebad was the best hotel of our trip to Switzerland. The breakfast was outstanding as well.
