FAQs about hotels in Melbourne

Buzzy Jewel of Aussie Rules

A thoroughly liveable city, Melbourne has a buzzy vibe and an Aussie sense of fun. There’s always something going on, and one of its many festivals is Moomba – Australia’s largest free arts festival. Well worth a visit are the National Gallery of Victoria and the Melbourne Aquarium, where you can walk through a clear tunnel as sharks swim over your head.

The city’s most recognizable landmark is Flinders Street Station, whose yellow and green façade matches the color of the historic Melbourne trams that still run around the world’s longest tram network. Keep an eye out for the street art as you travel.

Shopping in Melbourne is fantastic. Queen Victoria Market is the largest open-air market south of the Equator, while the La Trobe Street shopping center has over 300 stores. For food, don’t miss Little Italy - the Carlton area.

South of the Yarra River is St Kilda, home to the best beach and Albert Park, where the F1 Australian Grand Prix is held. However, this isn't the city’s only sports heritage. It’s also the home of Aussie Rules soccer and the MCG, a must-see for cricket fans.

Booking.com has a range of Melbourne accommodations from hotels to hostels and motels, some near Melbourne Airport.

    Melbourne is an amazing city.

Melbourne is an amazing city. It is so easy to get around whether you use the trains or the trams. The Southbank is a lovely area to stay in, with plenty of cafes and restaurants. You can also enjoy lovely walks along the river bank.

    So much to do.

So much to do. Not a beach city really but endless theatre, galleries and gardens. The thing that really makes Melbourne great is that its decentralised. There are lots of neighbourhoods with their own character and identity. Its easy to get around as long as you never go near Punt Rd. Did I mention the food. It's good and the coffee is drinkable art.

Great public transport facilities mean you don't need a car.

Great public transport facilities mean you don't need a car. Lots of entertainment and dining opportunities in Melbourne, and excellent outlets for shopping at every level. I highly recommend an unassuming Italian restaurant in Little Collins Street called Lupino. Great food, terrific service and charming waitresses! Lots of sporting activities to attend and they tend to be comparatively less expensive than say Sydney. You do need to anticipate the quite changeable weather.

I wouldn't call this a holiday destination hotel or anything like that, but for a clean, comfortable stay a short distance from Melbourne airport, well serviced by public transport, and reasonably close to the CBD it is perfect. Anywhere else I would have said it was expensive for what it was, but given the prices of other hotels the same distance or closer to the airport, it was reasonable as these are very expensive in Melbourne.

The service from the majority of the staff was fabulous. Especially the entrance security staff member, and the staff member who valeted our hire car for us. Both extremely helpful & lovely gentlemen. The hotel itself was amazing, as you would hope, such a quirky, lux, industrial feel - loved it. Also a great location, very central. Love how Melbourne CBD is very walkable for a large city.

Almost everything was fine except a prolonged internet "cut". The check in was fast and smily, the "special requests" were met. Travelodge Dockland is my "first choice" of hotel in Melbourne because of the perfect location allowing a smooth and easy transfer to/from the airport and basically walking distance to anywhere in the CBD!

Everything is perfect. The location is central enough but away from the city noise ( there are a lot of constractions going on in CBD at the moment), the staffs are friendly and very helpfu, our room was spacious and very clean. We will definitely stay in this hotel again on our next visit to Melbourne.
