Love the charm of this place and the history. It feels very cozy something I always look for in a hotel, staff were super super friendly, warm and accommodating. I wish I remembered the name of the man helping us but I forgot to ask! He was great though.

The room was beautifully decorated. We loved the little steps down into the room which added character and reminded us of our rooms at home. The little jar of sweets was a nice touch. We loved the coffee machine and drinks/biscuits. The beds were really comfy and we slept very well. The breakfast was substantial and delicious and set us up for the day. All the staff were helpful and attentive.

Food quality was great. Bit more variety on the evening meals would help for those staying longer than 4 days but that is being picky. Fantastic breakfast - if there is something you want but cannot find on the buffet then ask the chefs - all very helpful. The spa was amazing and great for a rainy day. Location is perfect for walks and local communities. Room was cozy and comfortable. For 6 days we could have done with booking a bigger room - it is worth checking the options for longer stays - but the bed was super comfy and we wish we'd bought the robes.

Perfect sized town for having adequate facilities but without the crowds of Windemere. Easy to walk just a short way out to spectacular trails and views, good enough choice of restaurants and cafes to fill a week, lovely park for kids, waterside activities within walking distance.

Well located for Windermere and lots of other destinations because of the good bus routes. It was very clean and the restaurants were very good. Ambleside had plenty going on and it was easy to walk to Lake Windermere and the local park had tennis courts and crazy golf. Shelia’s restaurant and Matthew’s were extremely good so was the fine chocolate shop.

The hotel was a disappointment. Reception was at the Bar.

The hotel was a disappointment. Reception was at the Bar. The receptionist was in a bad mood and had no customer care at all. it seems if he smiled he will get in trouble. Room was not ready until 5pm. the room had no view at all. There was no air conditioning and the weather was so hot. As for the lake view as beautiful, we walked around the centre, it was quiet and peaceful. boat ride was also fun.

A beautiful, well kept area of the lakes with plenty of shops and eateries. Great location for walkers to explore from and relax in the evenings…. Can get very busy in summer months but never disappoints no matter what time of year. Hope the area never changes and remains as picturesque for years to come and not ruined by ugly out of character buildings in the future. We need to preserve this iconic and picturesque area of our country for years to come

Some of the staff was really friendly, I didn’t catch their names but it was a woman with a lovely blue in her hair and a man with top knot hairstyle in, who was in the bar in the evening and the woman was on breakfast the next day. They were friendly and welcoming, made us feel comfortable as soon as we walked In. The Room was lovely, clean bed was comfortable and breakfast lovely. Dog friendly hotel and staff made a fuss of him.

The rooms were very clean, comfortable and quiet. The breakfast was lovely and all members of staff were extremely welcoming and friendly, everyone seemed to go out of their way for us. A dog friendly hotel which we didn't mind at all (but understand this might not be for everyone). Lovely gardens and a farm which backs onto the hotel. The bar had a good selection of drinks Free parking and good for people who like to hike.
