I was catching up with friends and family so that was my focus on this trip. Wellington does have brilliant cafes, restaurants and attractions such as the Cable Car, Te Papa, Mt Victoria lookout etc. Parking in the city is expensive so look into parking apps as they can save you lots of money. There are lots of great sites such as the Museum within a relatively confined space. Good public transport is available. There are lots of good restaurants and cafes. In summer, the beaches and coastal areas are lovely and very accessible. We used Uber for all our inner city trips, it was so easy to get around. The 3 hour bus tour of the city was a highlight, the guide Hamish was excellent. We ate dinner at Grazie Italiano at Double Tree By Hilton, it was superb, food, service, the whole nine yards. We live not too far away on the Kapiti Coast. This trip was to give my two grand-daughters, aged 4 and 6, their first experience of staying in a Hotel. We had a great time! Wellington is an easy city to get around. We spent time at the park on the waterfront, took the ferry to Days Bay, and ate the best ever doughnuts from the foodtruck on the Wellington waterfront!!
