First class hotel. Friendly helpful staff, beautiful, comfortable room and excellent food. We were driving south from Scotland to Liverpool to join a cruise ship, unfortunately due to bad weather conditions our itinerary was changed and we elected not to sail. I rang the hotel on our way back north and were delighted that they were able to give us the same room. Would definitely stay at Roundthorn again.

Free parking and a bar on site were positives as was the central location.
The advert said that it was a larger than average room but including the bathroom it was no more than 13ft by 8 ft. There was no table or chairs so not a pleasant area to spend any time. The bottom of the outside of the shower had ingrained dirt.

Nice buildings with lots of character.
Nice buildings with lots of character. No huge shops but loads of smaller varied places. The town was alive and generally well kept.
Good range of eating places and some really good pubs.
The town is not huge, so once there everything is easy to walk. It's not particularly hilly, though heading for the castle is uphill.

Lovely Old Market Town with some lovely old buildings including the penrith library and the good vibrant night if you want one with also some lovely little quiet pubs and a fantastic shop called the toffee Shop makes the best fudge and toffee I've ever tasted
Alison is a great host; warm, welcoming and very helpful. The room was warm and clean, the bed was comfortable and it was quiet at night.
There were a number of breakfast options, and the food was of a good quality and well cooked.
The location is excellent, with a private parking area at the rear of the property. I could walk into the town centre in a few minutes and it was ideally suited to visit Potfest.
The accommodation is very good value for the prices, and No 3 will be my first choice on future visits to Penrith.
A really lovely family run hotel. The owners are so warm and friendly. Easy to book and they answered all my queries prior to arriving. The room was lovely and warm and the room spotlessly clean. Bed was really comfy and lovely thick, fluffy towels provided. A kettle with plenty of choice of drinks on offer as well as bottled water. Breakfast was superb with lots of choice of hot and cold food. We would definately recommend.
When we arrived in Penrith, we had booked a hotel for the wrong date. Tracy was extremely accommodating letting us stay for the night in one of the best rooms she had available. The bathroom was absolutely beautiful and the bed was really comfortable. The breakfast was exceptional. Tracy again going above and beyond to make us comfortable welcome and meeting our requests. A fantastic day we would definitely come in again
This cosy and clean room in a beautiful house was ideal for us to use as a base to visit the Lake District and the surrounding areas. Penrith town centre is within walking distance from the property and there was space to park our car. Christel was an amazing host putting on wonderful breakfasts for us and we felt that we wished we could have stayed longer. We would definitely stay here again.
It's a tastefully decorated and furnished place, full of character and in a pretty village. A quiet, leafy spot with pretty gardens front and back. Delightful patio out the back if the weather was kind, super conservatory at the front for wet days and cooler evenings. Very well equipped - there was no occasion where we thought "is there a ....?" and there wasn't one! We'd love to stay again.
All the staff were so friendly and helpful. The decor and facilities are excellent. The food in the evening in the restaurant/bar was lovely and good value too. At breakfast we had smoked salmon and scrambled eggs. It was so tasty. We also loved the fact that the bath was in the bedroom area and separate to the bathroom
Its a lovely large cottage with a garage where we could store our bikes. Beautiful quiet location just set back from quiet country lanes about 30 mins from Penrith. On the main farm theres a kitchen that serves beers and fantastic pizzas in the evening. The owners were hospitality itself and v happy to recommend
Very helpful, cheerful staff. Room was good, beds comfortable and the shower was excellent. Breakfast was very good and the bar had a quieter part away from the serving area, good choice of drinks. The hotel is in the centre of Penrith on a busy road but the noise died down in the evening.
Steve is a fantastic host, he was quick to answer our questions and nothing was too much trouble. His home is lovely and the room was lovely and clean, and the bed was so comfortable! Perfect stay after a days hiking in the lakes.
I will definitely be back to stay again 😊
Our stay was for one night room only. This is a nice hotel in the centre of Penrith, we have stayed here before but this time it was just to break our journey on our way home from a holiday touring Scotland. The hotel is clean and friendly with lots of old world charm.
The breakfast menu offering, quality and quantity was excellent, cooked and served with care and a smile. Check-in was efficient and a pleasant experience. Room was clean and well prepared. Would highly recommend this venue to anyone staying or passing through the area.
Staff were proactive in suggesting a swap to one of their apartments as they had a Christmas party being held in main hotel and this would be quieter . Staff were welcoming, friendly & professional. Great location for lovely walk to Penrith Beacon.
The Station Hotel at Penrith is a very traditional pub and hotel and is an ideal place to stay for location for exploring the Lake District and if you're reliant on public transport, it's just across the street from the train station
The Mardale Inn was a lovely place to stay. A very nicely decorated and appointed room with all the facilities you might need. We ate in the pub (thanks for squeezing us in) which was good. Lovely staff and a good breakfast
The staff was friendly and helpful and the room was clean and comfortable. The hotel is in a very nice location with beer garden views on Penrith Castle and 1 min walk from train station from which buses to the lakes depart.
The hotel and room was tastefully decorated, bed comfortable and close to downtown eating. Great amenities. Loved having an early cup of coffee and taking a few snacks for on the road. Breakfast very well done.
We were a group of 5 friends staying for 3nights while going to the nearby festival. Beautiful accomodation, well equipped, lovely and clean. Centrally located for all amenities.
Great hotel, rooms, bar & restaurant are great.
Pool & spa added bonus.
Location is good, 10 minute walk into Penrith and 10 minute drive to Pooley bridge.
