FAQs about hotels in Bath

Roman Ruins and Georgian Grandeur

Wonderful, World Heritage site Bath is an impressive mix of Georgian architecture and Roman legacy. Its most famous landmark is the fantastic, natural hot spring Roman Baths. Although everything above the pillar bases is from a later period, you still get an idea of its appearance in Roman times. Sadly you can’t bathe here, but across the street the rooftop pool at Thermae Bath Spa offers views of Bath Abbey and the surrounding hills.

Check out the stained-glass windows in the abbey, England’s last remaining Gothic church. Its square houses Pump Rooms dispensing hot spring water from the Roman baths.

Just behind, the Parade Gardens by the Avon River overlook Bath Rugby Club, the multi-level Pulteney Weir and registered historic Pulteney Bridge, lined with shops. Other Bath shopping options include Southgate Shopping Centre, the bohemian Walcot Street market, and brand-name stores on Milsom and George streets.

North is The Circus, a circular square lined with Georgian townhouses, only marginally less impressive than the Royal Crescent down the road. You can now visit number 1 Royal Crescent, restored to its 18th-century glory.

Before heading to Bristol Airport from your Bath hotel, take time to try the famous Sally Lunn Bun and stop at the pleasant pubs along the Kennet and Avon Canal.

What Guests Said About Bath:

    We absolutely loved Bath.

We absolutely loved Bath. We stayed 3 nights and I could have stayed longer. However we did do a couple of day trips from there, so if we purely stayed in town the whole time it may have been long enough. The historic buildings are beautiful. Town is set up so lovely. I recommend staying either in or within walking distance from town. We went to the Roman Baths which I highly recommend. My husband didn't come this time as he went years ago and thought it was very underwhelming, however, since he has been, they have added sooo much more to it. The are still finding artifacts which they add. We went through in 1.5 hours but could easily have taken longer as heaps to see. Also a tip is book your ticket online as it's a little cheaper. We went in the evening when the crowds are not as big and they had lights and music playing with a bar. Beautiful. I don't know if it's just during the summer, but the car park near the Double Tree Hilton turns into antique markets on Saturdays. We thoroughly enjoyed that a bought a few goodies. We took a day trip to the Bristol Balloon Festival and day trip to Highclere Castle from Bath. We had a car. The Royal Crescent wasn't anything special in my opinion. Just a quick look and we were done. The Jane Austen Centre was good. We purchased tickets on the spot without a prior booking. You get a 20 minute talk, then a self guided walk through which honestly takes 10 minutes as too busy to try and read everything, but the fun part was getting to dress up at the end and take photos. You also get to try writing with a quill. We didn't go to Sally Lunns this time as the lines were too big each time we went past, but we went last time. It's worth going. Is the bun worth it, well.......... you'll need to judge that for yourself :)

Special city with its own charm. The shops, food and cafes were plentiful. We wished we had more time to visit more of the gardens and parks too. By day 3 we had the walk into town and getting around very easy.

Bath is a lovely, clean city. The people were very friendly. The town has every shop you could want. Lots of choices for food. The Roman Baths was good value for money and a really enjoyable experience. We saw 4 weddings throughout the day and everybody was cheering the bride and congregations and it was a lovely experience. We went on the river boat cruise at Pulteney Bridge and it was fantastic. Really worth it

It's a very pleasant city to walk around and plenty of activities taking place. Most of the places of interest are within a short distances of each other, which made getting about very easy. There were a lot of street entertainers which were great to see. There's plenty of parks, gardens and river side and canal walks if you want to get away from the streets for a while. There also appears to be great public transport links if you want to visit further away.

Bath is a beautiful city to visit, from the Royal Crescent, the Circle and the city centre there is lots to see and do and steeped in history. It has been a few years since I have visited Bath and there was a lovely vibe in the city, it feels like its had a revamp. While defintely touristy it wasn't too busy. Lots to see around the area from Stonehenge through to Bristol. Parking signage is fabulous so you can see where to park, and if not staying on the outskirts it is easy to get public transport or a local taxi/uber. Would have loved to visit Prior Park Landscape Garden and didn't realise that access is only via walking, think that information could have been better provided as to how to get there e.g park and ride or Uber etc.

We loved our stay! The hotel is gorgeous, the spa is great with a nice and warm swimming pool and sauna, breakfast is amazing (you can order anything you want from the menu - no buffet), beautiful gardens and the staff treated us like royalty. I thought it would be far from the city centre, but it is just a short and beautiful walk to all main attractions in Bath.
