Hotel Edison Times Square, hotel in New York

Ideally located in Times Square, this Manhattan hotel has been around since 1930.

The location is very convenient to broadway shows, amazing restaurants, Times Square as well as several other attractions. The air conditioner in our room was not working properly in the middle of a heat advisory. Maintenance came up promptly to repair but was unable to. We were then given another room with working air conditioner. The free breakfast was delicious. Staff was always helpful and friendly. Would definitely stay there again.

The Manhattan at Times Square, hotel in New York

The Manhattan at Times Square enjoys a central Manhattan location with Times Square 1056 feet away and Rockefeller Center at 2116 feet from the property.

Before booking I tried to call the hotel and ask for the parking rates but no one answered. Again after booking I called to see if I can check-in earlier no one answered. At the time of reservation there was $50 extra charge that I assumed it is deposit however at the hotel they charged me again for the deposit and I realized that $50 was for amenities. I did not have refrigerator in my room. And finally I was charged $72 for the parking. Parking staff also was very aggressive and I did not have very good experience. The hotel reception was not friendly but they were ok. The other hotel staff were friendly.

Love the location of the hotel it was very close to lots of restaurants, shopping, and Times Square. The train is close by as well. One thing I will say in the Manhattan Area most places where we ate the average cost of meals was about $20 us PP and even at the gas station we were paying about $4 for a bottle of water. I'd recommend maybe stopping by a grocery store and grabbing a case of water and some snacks to save yourself some funds while staying in Manhattan.

New York is busy, crowded and just full of life.

New York is busy, crowded and just full of life. It was great to experience the nature of what New York is all about. Lot's of places to eat and lots of museums and places to visit and experience. Loved New York broadyway! if you're into musicals or theatre highly recommend for you to watch something. Loved the comedy shows too. The subway does get a big confusing but it gets easier once you get the hang of it. Not the cleanest city and not the best to get around by car. As an Aussie there are a few things that makes you think twice about visitng USA again. The first would be the exchange rate and second would be the tipping culture. We don't tip in Australia so to tip at a starbucks of 18% is honestly outrageous. Why am I tipping someone who are just simply doing their job? Happy to tip if the service was exceptional but this is just your standard daily job task. I get the standard wage may be low and they rely on these tips but it's hard to grasp the concept. Sure, there's an option not to tip but we heard thats not the etiquette. Since we are not from a tipping culture we dont know any better.

Hotel staff reacted and responded well to initial problems: luggage not brought up to our room after repeated attempts to get them to do so and initial room too small for us. We were offered different, more spacious corner room with great Times Square views, but even then, had to move luggage ourselves, even though we were told it would be taken care off. Partial refund offered, which was appreciated. Location unbeateable for Times Square area and transportation options to rest of Manhattan and beyond.

The hotel is in a great location, near Times Square, and has a subway stop right across the street. The staff was very accommodating when we arrived early in the day and let us into a room before check-in time which we had asked them about before we arrived. Although the room description mentioned fridge and microwave, the room had a kitchen area with everything but a stove which was so convenient in a city that is incredibly expensive.

This hotel was very central to all we wanted to do in NYC. Check-in was easy, the room was fine as expected (very bare and minimal as expected) and the process was easy. I wanted a cheap, budget friendly, no frills place to stay, and this was perfect for it. Awesome location, affordable, and had just what you needed and nothing more (or fancy). On the cheaper end of hotels in Manhattan. Location is very good. I don't mind the size of the rooms, either... Comfortable bed and decent sized room for a Manhattan hotel. Great location between Penn Station, Hudson Yards and Times Square. Would stay here again!
