When guests stay at the property they check out how quiet the room is, how friendly the staff are and more.

Angie is an amazing host who goes above and beyond to make your stay as enjoyable as can be. She started as a stranger to me but I will now forever consider her a friend. I will definitely choose Rose garden retreat if I ever need to stay in Rayleigh again.

Good location close to bus route. Private parking. Reasonable price. Friendly manager. Very basic accommodation served it's purpose for an overnight stay.

Nice location, just off town centre but yet peaceful neighbourhood. Loved the breakfast, full Scottish breakfast

As a suggestion, would be good to install USB charging ports in the room for today's generation.

Great location, city within walking distance. Good breakfast. Plenty of hot water. Nice swimming pool.

At this price point (Business Class double room) I would have expected complimentary lotions in the bathroom and a safe in the room. There was no shelf in the tiny bathroom so I had to put my toilet bag on the floor. All the spa treatments were booked, so wasn't able to have a much needed massage. Our rooms on the 2nd floor were right by the 'staff' door which kept banging, especially on our first night (26th April) when there was an event on the same floor and men talking loudly outside until about 1.30am. Deeply fed up at having to pay £9 a night to park (apparently Booking.com's fault)

Great location and very welcoming team. Comfortable throughout, bar, breakfast and rooms.

Little hard to work out were room was, maybe a sign saying garden room with arrow and where to park car. Heater could be on a little longer as a bit cold.

Hasn’t changed in over a decade.

The first room they gave me smelled of tobacco smoke. The second room the climate control didn’t work. The first two rooms looked like they hadn’t been renovated in a long time. The third room was okay: the climate control worked and the bathroom was decent. I was not impressed by the food. Expensive and small portion size. Could have come from a prepackaged child’s supermarket meal. Over the last 15 years or so I have stayed here over 400 times but this was the first time since Mercure has taken over. If they have invested in the property or the staff I could not detect it.

Breakfast was good.

Room would benefit from fresh paint.
