I would say it was an excellent location on Scotland Road, prior to my journey to Scotland. I was also interested to find that it was the site of a Roman Fort. Furthermore it was an easy and pleasant walk to the city centre. I was very pleased with the breakfast, which I had not realised that I had bought. The breakfast made it very good value for money. I was impressed by the hard working and friendly staff.

Nothing could hide the fact that it was an old building. While I was there it was being decorated. There was nothing wrong with the facilities, they were just a little old fashioned. (On a previous occasion I had stayed in a much smaller establishment in Carlisle, where the facilities were similar but they had made it interesting by having a Victorian theme). So I could see that they were trying to do something with the hotel, however it was not quite to my taste.

Clean rooms, very helpful and super friendly staff, lovely to chat with! The location is good, cycling distance from the city centre. The breakfast is good though a bit limited in options, but you can get a very decent full English here.

A bit on the pricey side, but to get somewhere you'll need to walk for a while, even to get a bus or a tube, unless you're cycling.

Lovely property, it felt very homely. Check in was easy. Parking right at the front. It was cleaned exceptionally. We had a very pleasant stay and I must comment the beds were ever so comfy!

Where do I start...there was a strong smell of smoke in the first allocated room so we asked to move especially in view of the notice that anyone smoking in the room would be charged £100 and we didn't want to be blamed !! The second room was clean but bland , we couldn't turn the heating off so had to leave the windows open resulting in little sleep in view of the noise from the busy road next to the hotel Breakfast....good grief, how can it be possible for every item to be cold even when fresh eggs were brought out which were also cold.. The young lady clearing the tables didn't stop running around so no blame on her at all. The rest of the staff not at all friendly apart from the receptionist who was very polite and helpful. We were booked for 2 nights but left after one.
