Positive section of review
The location along with the other places in Rhaydaer owned by the same outfit are in a very convenient location for visiting that part of mid Wales. I have stayed at a number of them previously and generally found them to be adequate. The evening meal and beer we had at the Crown was ok and not too expensive.

The cleanliness of the room, particularly the ensuite bathroom was not great (grubby and mouldy) and the furniture/equipment quite dilapidated. See photos. We were not given the rooms we booked either, we were given a cheaper room in one case. We booked and paid for a family room which was more expensive because that was all that was available on booking.com but we were given a twin/double which would have been fine if that's what we had paid for! However the worst aspect is that they charged us twice. I had paid in advance and showed the staff the booking.com receipt but they insisted that I hadn't paid and that I would have to pay via their payment link. It took 5 days, a phone call and many emails to sort a refund. Because there is no one at the Crown in the mornings, you can't speak to anyone to sort out any issues. They also don't have anywhere to securely park motorcycles which is a big negative for us.

Nothing. I arrived and even though paid in full for a room none was available. Sent me to a room with another guests items in it. Waited for 30 minutes to check in and only got confirmation a room in another guest house 2 hours later. Really really poor.

The staff were very helpful and did their best to solve a problem; the customer service was excellent. Tea and coffee supplies in the room were enough for the two night stay. TV with Freeview was useful. Wi-Fi worked fine.

Very short lead on the oil heater (it got quite cold at night). Also they forgot to tell me the checkout procedure (i.e., leave your key in the room door and go) and I could have left earlier had I not waited for somebody. They were very helpful once informed, though.

The room was spacious and the bed very comfortable, the bathroom with its freestanding bath was a special feature. A good breakfast with particularly friendly service.

I was surprised to receive a call that we needed to check in by 7.00pm as after that there would be no staff. As it happened we were a few minutes after that but there were still people around.

Lovely large comfy bed, great bathroom, large tv and the dog bowl, blanket and treats for the dog. Food was great and staff friendly.

Room was near road with traffic noise in day but dropped of later at night so didnt disturb sleep. A couple of leaded windows had broken panes so was wary of opening to let air in incase dropped out but was ok. Had secondary glazing that could be closed over broken panels.
