The room was warm and comfortable. Hosts were friendly and helpful. There was reasonable choice of breakfasts, nicely cooked and presented and available from relatively early, which suited me as a walker needing to make an early start on occasions. The location is a little out-of-town, but I enjoyed the 15 minute walk down to a restaurant and back of an evening. Easy parking and good access to roads north and south.

The hotel has no car park but located next to an NCP park. Very good room and facilities, large bathroom. Quiet room too. Nice decor in the hotel and excellent restaurant. Good location, about 15min walk to centre of town.

Room looked out at the concrete wall of the car park, so no view. Breakfast price was very high so not taken - but easy enough to find nice cafes outside who offer breakfast.

It was really hot during the day, but we were outside for most of the time, so we managed. We had the apartment on the first floor, because nothing else was available and the only thing that was super annoying were another tenants that were loud; talking loudly, slamming the door in the middle of the night and on our second night stay even someone called our apartment’s entry phone and woke us up. So I don’t recommend the loft apartment. Other than that it was great:)

New owners have only been there since Feb. The star is very tired !!! although it's tired, if it was shiny clean, it would brighten it and improve the look. A bucket of soapy water doesn't cost much. A huge effort will have to be made to improve this hotel .

The bed was uncomfortable- two separate mattresses with an obvious gap between them. We had to remake the bed too as the duvet was not in two parts not zipped together or fitted inside properly. Also the window wouldn’t close and when maintenance arrived to help, a screw was pushed into the frame to hold the window down. We were told to simply remove and replace the screw each time we wanted to open/close the window. None of the above is what I would expect from a Montcalm hotel.
