Situated conveniently off the A37 in a peaceful village just north of Dorchester, The Greyhound Inn boasts a prime location. The welcoming atmosphere upon arrival and the exceptional quality of food served make for a delightful experience, although the dessert menu may not be suitable for those with nut allergies, but there were options. The bedrooms, located opposite the pub, offer a convenient stay; however, the room I booked was Maggie which had the boiler extractor outside the window, as it intermittently operates throughout the night, leading to a less than restful sleep. To ensure a more pleasant stay in the future, it is advisable to request a room away from the boiler extractor noise. By doing so, one can potentially enjoy an exceptional experience at The Greyhound Inn without any disturbances.

Rupert is a wonderful host who is very knowledgeable about the local area and takes an interest in his guests. He prepared an excellent vegan breakfast on request. The double room was large with a comfortable bed and good shower. Rupert kindly put some vegan bars in the room in place of the usual (dairy) biscuits. Brae Lee is in a beautiful situation with stunning views, including from the breakfast room. There’s a bell button in the reception room and Rupert appears as if by magic when it’s pressed! It’s perfect for an early morning ferry the next day as you’re minutes from the dock. Unfortunately our ferry was cancelled but Rupert gave us the weblink and advice on how to claim back from CalMac ferries

This is a plane old hotel with small rooms. It’s a good stop. I wouldn’t come here for a vacation.

Where you have breakfast is lovely and clean and modern

The rest of the hotel is dated and nothing like the pictures. Breakfast was cheap quality except the sausages. Tiny TV in room. Kettle takes ages to boil. No plug sockets near bed. Bathroom door couldn't close because of the toilet. Bath too small for a bath and it's chipped and stained. Sink cracked and stained. No headboard for 3rd bed almost like it's just been put in there for the night. Not worth the money paid.
