The best thing about this hotel was that it was clean, which is probably the most important plus point for any establishment. Some of the staff were extremely pleasant, helpful and efficient, but unfortunately not all. The breakfast on one day was excellent but not on day two. The location was probably very good, but spoiled somewhat by the weather and roadworks.

Breakfast on day two seemed to be leftover fruits and yoghurt which were past their best. The staff were much less helpful and friendly than on day one and everything seemed too much trouble. Dinner was very basic and stodgy, such that we looked for somewhere different to eat on day two. At well over £200 per night for bed and breakfast, for only a very average room, this was extremely disappointing.

They was no breakfast or TV in room but what you pay for is what to expect the owner is very pleasent and welcoming and to offer her home is lovely really polite good value for money if you just need a bed

Nothing about the property, the only thing was the bus coming back , we caught the last one at around 11pm , if we had missed it we would have had to get a taxi.

We have stayed regularly at Cave Castle for a number of years on two night golf trips but this will be our last. Our room in the main building was tired. The water from the cold tap was warmer than what came out of the hot tap, which took 10 mins to warm sufficiently for us to take a shower. The food in the restaurant was so poor that we went out for both dinner and breakfast on our second night. Two of our party had the soup at dinner on the first night, which was extremely salty and raised this with a member of staff. Whilst an alternative starter was provided the attitude of the member of staff was disappointing, particularly relating to his comment that no one else had sent it back. Many of the staff gave the impression that they lacked managerial direction. I have previously recommended Cave Castle as a place to stay but won't be doing so in the future.
