Positive section of review
Most everything was absolutely spot on. The key elements of any stay were present: cleanliness, warmth and comfort. Our room was a standard twin with bathroom and was serviced daily. Food at breakfast (we didn't partake of an evening meal) was varied, plentiful and delicious. Staff were always willing, attentive and helpful. There was entertainment in the ballroom on two nights out of our five night stay although there were very few people in the audience perhaps because of the time of year. Perhaps as a result of this, the bar did tend to close a little earlier than expected. This was however compensated for by the Tetleys bitter and Guiness being half price!

Ok, as a good number of reviewers have mentioned, the hotel is in need of a little TLC in some areas but this has to be viewed in context. The cost of upkeep on a hotel of this size must be eye watering. Most importantly, the hotel was clean, warm, comfortable and friendly. Being the case, we tended to look beyond the issue some people love to dine out on!

Inclusive breakfast only continental (not flagged at booking). Very poor continental selection indeed . No cheese or cold meats or fruit. Basically muesli, toast, packeted pastries, orange juice. No marmalade. Everything was cleared away at 09:30 but service was meant to be available until 10:00. They had to get everything out for us. Unfriendly service. Very poor value & misleading “breakfast” advertising. Uninterested staff at breakfast & check out. No “how was your stay”. Would not use again unless breakfast upgraded & staff properly trained. Not recommended
