Friendly welcome upon arrival. Our room, whilst compact, was very comfortable and clean, and had everything we needed. The bed especially was very comfy! Tops marks for having a proper dressing-table area with accessible plug sockets (often missing from even the best hotels)! We loved the personal service for breakfast and the food, cooked to order, was delicious! Within easy walking distance of many restaurants. We would return and would definitely recommend.

We really enjoyed our stay at Woodland 159. Mark and Julie were most hospitable hosts and and couldn't do enough for us. Breakfast was excellent with added touches like home-made marmalade and jam. And we were only about 200 yards away from a great pub and restaurant for our evening meal! And there was a lovely lounge to sit in once we came back from our meal.

Such a tasty cooked breakfast, made with top quality ingredients. The house and rooms available to the visitors are very welcoming and the decoration is so calm and clean. The owners, Roxy & Matt were genuinely very welcoming and gave good advice regarding places to eat out at and places to visit.

All excellent - nothing could be improved.

Great check in; all electronic, staff there to support if needed. Very quick and efficient. Pool was great and perfect to tire the kids out. We stayed in a family room which was very spacious and clean; shower was lovely! The bar and restaurant was brilliant. Food was great.

Breakfast didn't have fruit or pancakes, which is a staple for our kids when eating in a hotel. This would have made a big difference.

Everything was great. Location perfect for walking into York. Great atmosphere in Moxy. Really good breakfast.

Private Parking costs even with discount were expensive. I was told by parking staff that I could leave the car park without any penalties but was charged an extra £19 taking the bill up to £54 for a 2 night stay as we did leave twice. Something to keep in mind again.

I liked the breakfast but thought it could be bigger. Good quality sausage which is rare.

It was as I remembered it from the 1980s when I lived on Arlbury Road
Negative section of review
It was the go to place for a luxury dinner in the late 1980s - the food has regressed not progressed and the room was in need of a refurbishment
Positive section of review
Well located, and reception staff were efficient and friendly.
Negative section of review
Decor and furniture in rooms and generally around hotel was dreary, shabby and dated. Bathroom very small and very dated. Very disappointing views from the small windows in rooms. No soundproofing, lots of noise heard from next room. Long queue for breakfast, had to wait ages for a table and items were missing and not replenished at the buffet eg pastries. Staff at breakfast were abrupt, not particularly welcoming and we had to ask for coffee, tea, milk etc as it wasn’t offered. Pretty awful all-in-all, definitely won’t go back.

The situation was super. Wonderful Views from our room
Negative section of review
Our room wasn’t cleaned during our stay. The food was mediocre. Despite paying for a cooked breakfast every day we did not get it.
