when I booked this room I went off the photos and description it states a spa bath I was like how lovely and it was perfect for a birthday night away , well we arrived and there it was the spa bath in all its glory after unpacking I thought let's turn the spa bath on and have some down time . it didn't work I went around the room looking for a switch to turn it on but sadly I couldn't find it even put my glasses on for assistance . I sat on the bed scratching my head and decided it's best to message the owner. I asked how do I turn on this spa bath ? I got a message in a good response time to my horror it said its just a large bath and the jets don't work ! Well I was rather gobsmacked at this point as this was the reason I booked here so regrettably I had to have a shower instead as no one would want to sit in a large spa bath with jets lights and all your bits in view with no bubbles .

this place is not very child friendly narrow doors and walkways steep steps. bed was very soft I almost folded in half as I lay down

The location and views are amazing. The friendliness and helpfulness of staff, including the MD who was on site, was second to none. The ground floor has been tastefully redecorated and furnished in a pleasing, almost nautical colour scheme. Tea, coffee and biscuits in the room, and some binoculars in the bedroom for a closer look at the amazing scenery. Good drinks selection, and ample food for evening meal and breakfast. Quality of produce is certainly better than average with a superb steak and ale pie absolutely packed with meat. Nice bacon at breakfast.

The upstairs is about to commence a full refurbishment, so this review is based purely on the here and now. The bedroom decor is very old and dated, the curtains and door allow a lot of light into the room, and the mattress is the worst I have ever lied on. I improvised with a second pillow, which allowed me to sleep. The room we stayed in (Lakeland) needs to be aired as much as possible because once the windows are closed, there is a smell of sewage/ rotting vegetables that is quite simply overwhelming. I look forward to the refurbishment as I realise some of these issues cannot realistically be dealt with whilst there is ongoing refurbishment. Very poor WI-FI upstairs despite boosters in situ. Fairly limited choice of breakfast items (personal opinion only ) Didn't like the fact we had to decide on whether to have breakfast at check-in, and also the very narrow time slot of 8 till 9am.

Three of us stayed in the Double Room with Garden View (double bedroom plus a sofa bed in adjoining room). The accommodation was in a lovely annex to the main building and was spacious and spotless. It's in a fantastic setting in the village of Flore and we enjoyed the 25 minute walk to the Narrowboat pub on the Grand Union canal before eating in the White Hart in the village. Breakfast was excellent in the morning.

The temperature control on the shower was a little temperamental (which we forgot to mention on checking out) but that was the only minor issue we had.
