The location of the hotel is lovely, the lakes are beautiful, and the view from our room was fantastic. There are a few nice places to eat around the lakes, especially Jennie’s Kitchen that serves a lovely afternoon tea. The Pizza shack next to the hotel was brilliant and really reasonable priced. The gym was good and quiet, and had plenty of variety of equipment. The staff were very friendly and helpful. View from our room of the lakes was lovely.

It wasn’t made clear when booking that this hotel was a dog friendly hotel, if we’d have known this prior to staying we probably wouldn’t have chose it. We were in a room next to an extremely noisy dog who barked any time we moved or anyone walked by the outside window. I paid extra for a lake view and although the receptionist was lovely and said we could move to the 2nd floor, it would have been the same issue as the partial lake view rooms are all dog friendly. So we had to just accept this. The room had a bit of a fusty smell and to know that animals had been in there, as a none dog owner, was a bit of a put off. The walk up to and the reception of the hotel was beautiful, however the standard of the rooms did not meet expectations. Spa and pool facilities dated and not clean, needs an update. Reception far too close to the bar area, it was extremely busy at times and put you off going there.

The room could have done with air conditioning or decent sized fan. and maybe a mini fridge to keep our drinks chilled, when we first arrived we found it difficult to breath because of the warmth even with the windows open

Outdated building, window in the room didn't fully seal. Extremely noisy, you could hear everything happening in the street (luckily Portree is quiet at night) and people walking on the room above ours will make a lot of noise due to the wooden floors. Fixed shower head and no proper surfaces for your toiletries in the bathroom. Breakfast was so so, scrambled eggs with salmon were good (but they run out of one of the 2 types of salmon one day), waffles were drenched in syrup and almost inedible and coffee was atrocious. There were 2 toasters, one that will burnt the toast and one that took forever to slight toast it. Front desk staff was nice but offered only the minimum level of service to check you in (when departing, they didn't even come to the front desk and just signaled from the office to leave the key at the counter). We were asked upon arrival if we wanted housekeeping, we replied that it won't be necessary only to find out they still went into our room to open the window. On the day of our departure, the housekeeping staff entered our room around 8:45 without knocking (we were told that check out was at 10:30 when we arrived).
