Sun-drenched & Leafy

At the meeting point of Australia’s Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast, laid-back Brisbane is spread around the meandering river running through it. The river’s artsy South Bank is home to Australia’s largest modern art gallery, tranquil gardens and an artificial beach. Just across the river is the towering skyline of Brisbane's central business district, the location of many hotels in central Brisbane.

Nearby are the botanic gardens and Queen Street Mall, the most popular Brisbane shopping spot. There are more shopping centers all over the city, and the out-of-town malls include one in the Indooroopilly suburb by the foothills of Mount Coot-tha.

This green hill offers fabulous city views and has a planetarium, nature reserve and yet more botanic gardens. In Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary to the south, you can hug one of the lovable animals, while Australia Zoo – Steve Irwin’s legacy – is a good day trip.

Brisbane is a very leafy city and one of its parks, Wickham Park, contains the Old Windmill, Brisbane’s oldest building. To the northeast, the Fortitude Valley suburb is known for its vibrant music scene and Chinatown. Across the river in Woolloongabba is The Gabba or Brisbane Cricket Ground, and nearby is the bohemian West End district.

Booking.com has plenty of downtown hotels, and other accommodations near Brisbane Airport in a northeastern coastal suburb.

Great and cheap public transport particularly the ferries. These provide easy access to Southbank and areas such as Tenerife. Brisbane offer ample choices for eating catering for all tastes and budgets.

My favourite spots in Brisbane were South Bank and the CBD. We liked the fresh juice and smoothies at Queen Street. Getting around was very easy. We managed to travel to the Gold Coast with just 50 cents. We also took a ride on a City Cat, which was a fantastic experience.

Brisbane will host the 2032 Olympics and the City is upgrading its infrastructure to offer an outstanding experience for that event. One of the most exciting developing cities in the Southern Hemisphere at the moment with a unique vibe that is uniquely Queensland, the Sunshine State; friendly, "laid back" and welcoming. But don't wait for 2032, visit soon!

Excellent transport via the river on CityCat for 50c per person! certainly beats parking. Great city, lots of fine eating, river ambience, jazz club, galleries and exhibitions. Casual atmosphere and the best of everything.

amazing city, lots to do. the shopping centre is reasonably sized with plenty shops and eateries. CBD and Southbank are an amazing route for walking and exploring with multiple museums to visit. Other shopping malls outside CBD are large as well with their own vibe and beauty.

Lucid apartments are in an ideal location for visiting Brisbane. There are many cafes and restaurants near. It was ideal: just across the road from Southbank Cultural Centre (Museum, Library, Art Galleries) . It's also a quick walk across the bridge to Queen Street and the city centre. We rented two apartments to accommodate the whole family, both had lovely views and balconies. The two bedroom one was shabby, the upholstery on the settee was very grubby. The one bedroom apartment was spacious, well maintained and very comfortable.

Convenience of proximity to the Brisbane Cultural epicentre which was the reason for our stay. Easy walking distance to the Southbank/Brisbane River and also crossover bridges. Rail/bus station nearby. The room itself was so large and well equipped. Large floor to ceiling windows allowing great views. Outdoor balcony to sit and enjoy the cbd sights and sounds. All apps TV access including fox to watch the footy whilst prepping to go out. Large ensuite, kitchen benchspaces, dining table and full compact lounge suite.

The apartment is in a good location at the western end of Southbank. Easily accessible to all Southbank facilities including bridges to Brisbane CBD and ferries. The swimming pool area (in Tower 1) is beautiful and spacious - very clean with barbecue and seating facilities. Staff were friendly, lifts efficient and public spaces open and light. The curtains in the living space had fallen from the rail - it was fixed within an hour or two of me making the reception staff aware.

Our family loved the rooftop pool and spa. Apartment was good value for money, a short 2 min drive to Newstead shopping centre with cafes and restaurants. 10 min drive to Brisbane CBD and Southbank (great for kids) Rambla staff Ros was very accommodating, and quick to respond to any questions.

Location is great in this area. Close to many restaurants in the Southbank area and only a 10 minute walk across the river bridges and you are in the Brisbane CBD.
